  • Final Descriptions/Opinions about Rome

    June 8, 2022 in Italy ⋅ ⛅ 79 °F

    - Rome is largely a city of old architecture, so much so that you cannot modify the exterior of old buildings to preserve the old style. However, the interiors of most buildings are actually very fancy and futuristic.
    - Italian may be the primary language in Rome, but almost everyone also speaks English. We never had an issue with the language barrier.
    - The outlets are ( • • )
    - Our travel company, Monograms, were guiding us the whole way. Our transport during guided tours was a very fancy and futuristic-looking bus.

  • Got Luggage at Paris Airport

    June 8, 2022 in France ⋅ 🌧 66 °F

    We collected our luggage from baggage claim at Paris Airport.
    It took absolutely forever for them to start the conveyor belt. It finally started 20-25 minutes past the expected time (3:11 PM / 15:11).

  • Arrived at Hotel Room

    June 8, 2022 in France ⋅ 🌧 66 °F

    We arrived at the hotel, talked to the Monograms (tour guide) people about our guided tours, and are sitting in our very futuristic-looking hotel room.

    Photos attached are the view from right outside our hotel!Read more

  • Finished Boat Tour; Walking to Hotel

    June 9, 2022 in France ⋅ ⛅ 63 °F

    We finished our boat tour, and walked to the hotel on our own, without our tour guide.
    During the boat tour, we had a separate guide from our bus tour guide. She talked very fast, in both English and French.
    The boat tour was very hot on the way there because of the sun being out, but on the way back the wind picked up.

  • Found Louvre Tour Guide, Ready for Tour

    June 9, 2022 in France ⋅ ⛅ 66 °F

    We found our Louvre tour guide after a chaotic adventure trying to find them, and are ready to take the tour of the Louvre Museum!

    Getting to the Louvre was an adventure as well! The travel company lets you book this tour through them, but they don’t handle it or transport to it.
    So, we decided to take the metro/subway. Our Monograms representative explained it to us, so after some struggling on figuring out the lines and where to go, we used our tickets and got to the track. But then, my mom realized she forgot our tickets. So, she ran all the way back to the hotel, and came back with them a while later. The mistake couldn’t be blamed on her, it was a silly mistake that anyone could’ve made. We got on a train, rode to a stop, switched trains, and eventually arrived right in front of the Louvre. Then the journey began of figuring out where to go to meet the tour guide.

    We thought we should look for a Monograms sign, as that is our travel company for the trip. However, we were wrong. We finally found our tour guide, separate from Monograms, and prepared for the tour.
    We tried to call our representative from Monograms, our travel company, but their number didn’t work.

  • Louvre Tour Over; Heading Back to Hotel

    June 9, 2022 in France ⋅ ⛅ 70 °F

    We finished our guided tour of the Louvre Museum, and are planning to head back to the hotel for a bit.

    We saw MANY famous works of art, including, of course, the Mona Lisa. It had a queue set up for the immense amount of people, and you couldn’t even get very close to the glass case holding the painting. However, I got some very nice pictures.

    The tour was very chaotic because of the MAJOR crowdedness of the Louvre. Our tour guide also packed in a lot of stuff to see. It was awesome, but I was exhausted and my back hurt majorly by the end of it.

  • Ate Dinner at Iolanda

    June 9, 2022 in France ⋅ ⛅ 68 °F

    We ate dinner at Iolanda, a restaurant nearby the hotel, after our long journey at the Louvre. I got Pepperoni Pizza and a chocolate milkshake!

  • Saw Eiffel Tower Sparkle

    June 9, 2022 in France ⋅ ⛅ 66 °F

    We saw the Eiffel Tower “sparkle” with its lights flickering!
    The sparkling lights are a staple of the Eiffel Tower, so we had to see them!
    This only happens for the first 5 minutes of each hour at night, so we had to hurry to a good spot.Read more

  • Heading to Bed; Train Ride Tomorrow

    June 10, 2022 in France ⋅ 🌙 68 °F

    We are heading to bed, preparing for our VERY early (around 6 AM) train ride to London, England, United Kingdom! This is the train that goes in an underwater tunnel, and should only take a couple of hours. We need to get well rested, because it’ll still be morning in London when we arrive.

    — Personal Notes —
    (No need to read, unless you want to)
    ~~~~~~~
    I have Stranger Things Season 4 downloaded, ready to watch even without onboard WiFi or data! I really like the show, even though I only started it shortly before the trip.
    I actually just finished rewatching my (probably) favorite movie “Free Guy” on TV here (because there’s an option on most TV channels to play the original audio, rather than the French dub) and I made the new connection that Steve in Stranger Things is also Keys in Free Guy. It’s so weird how an actor I know and love from a newly watched show is also a main character in an older movie I love, but I just never realized until watching the show. Stranger Things actually came YEARS before Free Guy, but it’s so weird to me because I never watched it until now. The world is weird, man.
  • Got Hotel Room; Going Out Soon
    June 11, 2022 in England ⋅ ⛅ 68 °F
    We arrived at the hotel after the van ride. We got our room and trip info from the travel company here, as well as tickets to an excursion that weren’t already in the folder. The room is very fancy, as well is the whole hotel. We are going to walk around the city soon and explore what’s here.Read more
