I made it (back!) to Porto safely, the place my Camino really started over 6 years ago.
I met a girl, Irene, here and she told me she had just walked the Camino and inspired me to do it one day. Who'd have know I'd be on Camino number two ❤️

Started my walk out of misty, misty Porto this morning.
Did I bite off more than I could chew? 100%.
28,5km was a bit much for day 1.
Did I get lost on my way out of Porto? Also 100% 😅

75% cobblestones hurt like hell after about 20km, the last 8km were long and hard but I made it ❤️

I didn't meet a single other pilgrim the entire day!!Read more

What. A. Day. 31,8 km!
Alex, a German guy I met yesterday, and I decided to go off road and properly hug the coast because my legs and feet were hating the cobbles. We were the only ones. We got lost several times, racked up some extra kms we did not need, walked the most challenging terrains but talked all day about biochemistry, diving, evolution, the importance of psychopaths and empaths in society, Thai cave rescues and so much more.

We met the rest of the gang at about 4km from our destination which was a monastery up 750 steps. You read that right: ZEVEN HUNDRED AND FIFTY STEPS, to find the albergue needed pre-reservation (which we did not have).

All for the washer and dryer and the experience of sleeping in a monastery.

Oh how we got soaked today!!

No detours today, just a steady 27km walk through several towns with near-misses on the meltdown front from everyone, but lots of giggles and warmth tonight in the hostel ❤️

The forecast says we have rain for the rest of the week.... Might get quite interesting!

Last long day yesterday, and that went together with the last night together with our little Camino Family as we say goodbye to some of them who are off to walk the spiritual route ❤️

We ordered pizza to the albergue, we chatted and giggled, found a little kitty to cuddle (and debate the possibility of one of us taking her home) and are off for a last breakfast this morning before we part ways.

Loads of rain and sunshine today!!!
But mostly... Rain.

After our little breakfast with everyone, we said goodbye to our friends who were off on the Spiritual route and we all turned to ourselves, walking in complete silence or solitude the entire way, as it starting pouring down on us nearly all day. Very weird but powerful.

I know I reflected a lot on the crazy close connections we created in such a short amount of time and how it can't be a coincidence we ended up on the Camino at the exact same time.
We fit together as a team perfectly and I'm so grateful for it, I've learned so much from each and every one of these beautiful souls.

It was a hard slog through rough weather, but we made it that bit closer to Santiago 😎

Also... Cibrao, my Galician Camino friend, says me walking in the poncho looks "between very cute and the complete opposite of cute" 😂 not sure if that's a compliment or not but I'll take it!Read more

Today's the first day my body felt used to the walking, like it was something I did every day for my whole life.
I sang and danced through the last 6-7km today, it was bliss!

It threatened to rain all day but I wasn't soaked today so yayyy.

I'm staying at the most beautiful albergue ever tonight and they're putting on an amazing dinner with great vegan options, bring on the energy food!!
