Camper Bay

We woke up to ... no rain 🥳 Having the weather on our side, we decided to give Owens Point a try. Owens Point is supposed to be one of the big highlights if the trail, but only accessible depending on the tide. So with our rediscovered motivation we started of into a 3k muddy forest section - business as usual.

Finally at the beach, we passed a long stony flat section with surge channels all along the way. We had to either climb or jump over them to eventually, reach Owens Point. The gigantic cave formation was super impressive and we spent some time enjoying the scenery and taking pictures 📷.

We were told leaving Owens Point was actually harder than getting there and an hour into the following boulder section we could definitely tell why. We climbed from boulder to boulder and struggled keeping our concentration up when the rain started again. By now tide was rising again and the waves around the boulders beneath our feed got higher and higher making us realise we were hiking against the clock (or tide).

And suddenly, just like that we arrived at this days campground by not even 2pm 😅. Feeling relieved we could truly enjoy the beautiful nature around us (by than the sun came out again), snack on our remaining food and reflect over the last days. We shared a last campfire with the group before brushing our teeth next to the ocean and trying to spit as far as possible - just backcountry stuff.Weiterlesen
