    Toronto and my Australia birthday

    September 16, 2019 in Canada ⋅ ☁️ 17 °C

Flight was good had a little sleep and the lady from yesterday who we were so excited with who gave us our stay in Iceland upgraded us to extra leg room😁
Got to the hotel at around 12am Toronto time and off to bed.

Up at 9:30 from our studio hotel room. So small we. Nearly didn’t fit our suitcases in 😂

It’s my Australian birthday!! 38 hour birthday hahaha

We took a walk to the CN Tower but the cloud cover was bad so we kept on to the harbour and visited the Amsterdam brewery. Chilled out with a raspberry beer and Stella organised a slice of cake for my birthday!

Then back to the hotel and Uber over to the hotel my work has paid for 😁

It’s been a hectic couple of days so we are relaxing.

I went out to lobby and came back and Stella had lit a Danish candle, little Danish flags decorating the flags and a happy birthday sign suspended from the ceiling!!

It’s my Australian 40th birthday!!!! Yayayay!!!

    The afternoon of Niagara

    September 17, 2019 in Canada ⋅ 🌙 18 °C

Ok so after the boat trip we had some food overlooking the falls. I honestly think we got the best table in the fast food house!

Then up entertainment alley to a brewery and 8 flights of beer.

Stella told the staff it was my birthday so they played me a Fleetwood MAC song, Landslide.

After that we were back on the bus and out to the town of Niagara-on-The-Lake, which is a gorgeous little town. The changes their name to on the lake to distinguish them selves from the falls for postal reasons. There is a fort here from the battle of 1870 between the British and Americans. Restored after the Americans took it then the British regained it.

On to a winery for multiple tastings then the journey back to the hotel where we drank a bottle a bottle of wine we picked up at the winery.

There was towel art waiting for me in the room and a bottle of wine and a card from the hotel wishing me a happy birthday! Was lovely. I was however on the phone to mum at the time describing these niceties and was advised by mum that she had called and organised this. The hotel it appears was taking full credit for the wine gift and even signed it from the hotel staff hahahahaha 😂

A bloody fabulous way to ring in my 40th year!

Haha.... great 40th Birthday!!! All of it. Yes loved the photos of you and Stella at your table looking out to The Falls. What a great spot to sit and take it all in. Loved the photo of the Alley, looks like everything is going on there. Those 8 tasters at the brewery!! (Would not have suited me at all.) Niagara on the Lake looked amazing... all that history, and they seem to have just embraced it all making the town so special. And then a wine tasting! And a bottle of wine to take back home. Loved what housekeeping had done to your room! What a surprise. Emails back and forth. So it turns out, as much as I wanted to give you a nice bottle of red to top off your day ....." No, Mrs Arch, it was our pleasure. " ..... I didn't get a look in. Hahaha.... fun though. What an amazing day. Happy 40th Xxxxxxxx

==** NIAGARA** == I have to agree with you Emily, what a way to spend your 40th birthday!!! An absolutely amazing day, one you won’t forget. You had a perfect table for that magnificent view of the falls, then entertainment alley and Fleetwood MAC - good work Stella! Beautiful little town Niagara- on- the-lake, colourful hanging basket everywhere, pots and planter boxes at every door, the main street looks like a florist its that’s impressive. Have to ask, was it an Ice wine winery and you had three sweet ice wines?...........like you we got a bottle to be polite. Hmmmm all the work your mum put into getting that bottle of red wine to you and the hotel hijacks it. I know the effort your mum went to, I hope it tasted nice hahaha (she even txt Stella in desperation, she was that determined, but the message didn’t go) Brilliant 40th Birthday.

Hi Andrew! Yep Ice wine! It was too sweet for us so we did a red wine tasting and bought a bottle then did another red wine tasting and bought another bottle 😂 The hotel hijacking mums birthday surprise hysterical. On the phone to her and she asked if there was a card. To which I replied yes from the hotel 😂 Sneaky buggers! Thanks mum for the surprise!
