The Kilimanjaro Fast Ferrie, which offers daily commutes from Dar-es-salaam to Zanzibar, was our chosen mode of transport. What a treat indeed, gliding through the water in comfort and style!  Before long, we had arrived, and we were in for a plethora of specially curated, intense, and never-ending interactions with many people whose main objective was “facilitating/caring for the tourists”. The fact that David and I were travelling during “peak” season certainly did not help and found that we were unable to take a few steps in either direction without being offered services such as guided tours, recreational drugs, custom made paintings, a night out dancing, an authentic spice tour, or sex with tall, attractive “beach boy” of my choosing.
