• Bwindi – “a place full of darkness”

    Sep 11–16, 2025 in Uganda ☁️ 14 °C

Bwindi, the impenetrable forest, was the perfect place to rest, nest, and recuperate for a few days. This forest is also known as “a place full of darkness” due to its thick bamboo-filled forest, which is humid, moist, and happily thriving!

Ruhija Gorilla Friends Resort welcomed us graciously and was our home for 3 days allowing us to wash the many items of clothing muddied in the Rwenzori’s, warm showers which vacillated between scolding and just right, views of powerful thunderstorms nourishing the landscape, spaces to catch up on social media posts, naming plant species and cropping scanned images from books as well as quiet nights for deep sleep and scrumptious food which David brought back to me after venturing out into the surrounds to get “food and data/airtime”.

Beloved Uganda, I love that I do not know that it is about you, but I have the wisdom to know that there is “SOMETHING” about you!

P.S.: Thank you for your playful, vibrant flexibility that fuelled so much of our spontaneity.
