Was a nice night awoke to a crisp and refreshing 38 degrees, it is so quiet , I have to wind the clock or keep the fire crackling to sleep, I will adjust . The first pic is we’re a young bull moose cleaned his antlers in the fall we will hope he made it thru the winter, I found tracks this morning were 2 had been thru the yard in the night. Sunset at 10 and rose at 6. I keep lifting sink faucet thinking something will come out but air, it’s the long way on everything here, if u want water u must go and get it from the spring that flows year round up in town. The arctic entry also works as a refrigerator, drove to soldotna was a nice day that’s a picture looking across to west side . Tomorrow I fish the Kasilof river for king salmon , it’s early so I expect no luck but it will b fun I hope it’s like riding a bike and the skills I used to have return quickly and fish will b for dinner. Went out looking for moose and found 9 tonight a cow and two of last years calves I was able to get pictures of .Læs mere

Mt illiamna , Mt redoubt across Cook Inlet , makes ya wanna take a super cub and go exploring, kenai river is one of best salmon and rainbow rivers there is anywhere , it was a great day, it looks as if time has passed all this by same buildings and fishing holes from 15 years ago very little additional commercialization of cooper landing and surrounding area.Læs mere

    17. maj 2018, Forenede Stater ⋅ 🌙 72 °F

Spent the last 4 days helping my mother in law finish up some construction projects hanging doors running casing and base my old vocation before I started fixing planes , hopefully I will finish tomorrow and get back to fishing and touring, had a nice black bear run thru yard it makes me wonder if the pistol is worth carrying around he wasn’t even trying to run and was way faster than me on best day, if he was hiding he would be on u before u. Could say boo much less draw a gun and shoot. I will also post picture of a porcupine and a spruce chicken that was in yard. Went fishing after working today and caught a 30 inch Steelhead approx 10-12 pounds my largest ever, another moose mom and last years baby also out by road today . this cabin is starting to feel like home I love this place. 19. maj 2018, Forenede Stater ⋅ ⛅ 48 °F

Left Ninilchik village at 5 am headed north, gonna stop in birch wood and help a friend with putting his new cub crafters cub together and then I will continue north for a total of about 400 miles, I may freeze winter still has a healthy grip on things at the moment was 38 when I left cabin. U can see in pics lakes in hills are still partially frozen , hopefully they will b open in spots at Denali catching a grayling is high on the list of things to accomplish while gone. I should arrive at Riley creek campground in Denali National Park on Tuesday, they are clearing the roads but are well behind standard opening date of may 15, The pic of lake with grass mound was a stop I made to see if a pair of swans still nested there, they were there all the time we lived here, swans mate for life , they are still there.Læs mere

  • Horseshoe lake trail

    21. maj 2018, Forenede Stater ⋅ ☀️ 63 °F

I took a warm up hike tonight on the horse shoe lake trail, I was thinking of walking into the park which is about 12 miles to were I had planned to spend most of tomorrow, needless to say 5 mile warm up like to have killed me so I bought bus ticket, was a few critters running around, the snow shoe hares think they are hidden but still have little too much white on them. The bird in spruce tree is a camp robber , he will come in and swipe things if u r not paying attention, rest I believe is self explanatory.Læs mere
