From Haida Gwaii to Van Island

    Feb 10–12, 2025 in Canada ⋅ ☁️ 2 °C

We took the ferry from Skidegate to Prince Rupert, a stay overnight in a Safeway parking lot before boarding the same boat to Port Hardy on Van Island. A quick trip south to Port McNeill for groceries and fuel then on to boondock on a clearing at the end of a gravel road not far from the highway. A little travel weary but overall ready for the next adventure!Read more

  • Vancouver Island

    Feb 12–21, 2025 in Canada ⋅ ☁️ 3 °C

We’ve got boats, snow, coffee shops, cold temps, rain, wind., a tiny cooler, a tiny van, an earthquake and a good attitude! We have been adjusting to vanbulance life in the rain. Not what we had in mind for this stretch of the adventure but it’s all good! We are hopeful the sun will come out and it will warm up enough to have lots of outdoor time at the beach. I’m loving the island vibe and friendly people overall. We are finally leaving our little adopted town of Sidney by the Sea and heading to Salt Spring Island for a new view 💕Read more

  • Salt spring Island

    Feb 25–Mar 1, 2025 in Canada ⋅ ☁️ 7 °C

Decided to take a ferry ride to Salt Spring Island from Schwartz Bay after a couple weeks in the Sidney and Saanich area. We spent a few days/nights at the campground which was so so relaxing! Spent a day and night in town looking around in the shops and also touring the other side of the island. We stopped at road side veggie stands, cheese makers, bakery stands and enjoyed the tiny, curvy roads. Lots of water and views!Read more

It’s my birthday and we decided to hang out in Chemainus to celebrate 🎉 it was a nice day and we took full advantage of it walking the streets, looking in the shops and enjoyed a lovely lunch out at a cute cafe. Lots of calls, texts and FaceTimes made me feel loved. 🥰Read more

  • End of another journey 💕

    March 11, 2025 in Canada ⋅ ☁️ 5 °C

We abruptly decided to make our way off the island and back to Okotoks. The forecast was gloomy and I didn’t think I could do 10 days of rain. Again. A ferry ride from Nanaimo, a long day of driving then we stayed in Revelstoke for the night. The next day was lighter and a beautiful drive through Roger’s Pass, Banff National Park, then the old 22 through Diamond Valley like old times.

I was not doing well mentally, suffering from decision making fatigue and a serious case of SADS. Everything was damp and we were always cold. I was craving a familiar place to lay my head for a while and wanted running water. And more reliable sunshine. And ice. Four months without a freezer was hard. It’s the little things we take for granted…🤣
So happy to be laying in my old king size bed at the in-laws listening to the familiar footsteps of family and the fur babies upstairs while I type this. Grateful for the experiences we’ve had so far, grateful for the truck and vanbulance that have housed us on the road, grateful to have lots of people and places that welcome us back to crash until we are ready to move on again. xo
