    Where in Pari?

    July 4, 2018 in France ⋅ ⛅ 28 °C

The minimalism and uniformity here feeds my “ducks in a row” tendency. One building, museum, palace & church though starts to look lots like the next. So, for my sake more than yours, a list of what we have seen. Read on at your own risk of chronic boredom.

~ Parc Monceau; as a green space, so very popular. Appartments opening on to this beautiful space says community. Appeal right there.
~ Arc de Triompe; so much bigger than I thought, traffic insane... huge round about with no lanes, and centre of avenues radiating like a star.
~ Grand Palais; glass roofed convention centre
~ I ‘obelisque; bit bigger than the one in Dungog
~ Place Vendôme; appartments where coco Chanel lived and where lady Di ate just before she was killed
~ Opera; unusually situated with no road front ... facing a corner.
~ Palais Royal; was a private palace with an amazing garden and a flat fountain.
~ Lourve; massive, in a walled area on the river
~ Notre Dame; on the city isle
    ~ Latin Quarter; students, University
~ Musée Orsay; think that was the train station turned into a museum
~ Invalides; beautiful golden domed topped hospital where Napoleon is buried (I think). Has a moat around it
~ military ecole; where training horses for a jumping event this week
~ Eiffel Tower; metal not stone. A change. Is bigger again than I thought. Was going to be taken down so mr Eiffel rented it to telecommunication companies.
~ Montparnasse Tower; a view if the city with brilliant perspective.
