Freezing on Mt. Washington

We were told on the website to dress warm because it could be cold at the top. They were right! It was 62° at the bottom and 50° with 34.5mph winds and 63mph wind gusts at the top. In other words, cold! The brake man told us that it was expected to get worse later in the day. We stayed at the summit for around an hour and drank coffee and hot chocolate to help warm up. Coming down was a little more nerve wracking. Especially when we were told that the steam engine was a little too small for the weight of the car.Read more
