  • Mississippi River Headwaters, MN

    13 Temmuz 2021, Amerika Birleşik Devletleri ⋅ ⛅ 82 °F

Just over 2500 miles from Lake Itasca the Mississippi River flows into the ocean, 1000 feet wide. We walked the 18ft across the Mississippi at its start! That lasted about 2 seconds as there were so many people. We walked up the river, hung out at the visitors center (I read while the kids played with water) and then headed to 'The Beach' to swim. After swimming the kids played sand volleyball while we napped and Dad got "attacked" by a squirrel...Okumaya devam et

  • Enchanted Highway¹ ND

    14 Temmuz 2021, Amerika Birleşik Devletleri ⋅ ☀️ 79 °F

I read about this highway and thought everyone would enjoy the giant statues. This artist made the status from recycled materials. It's a 36 mile drive down the highway. We were hitting it close to evening so by the time we got to the last one, the mosquitos were ready to haul us away!Okumaya devam et

Mosquitos take me away! (Calgon tune). They were horrible!!!

Search and find time. Can you find us in the picture of all the statues?

We decided that it was late enough that we would stay at a dam just south of where we ended. It showed just a 6 mile drive, BUT Google took us down a very sketchy road. It's the most off-road we've ever done in a motorhome. If it hadn't been dry, Doug said he'd would have had to back out. We did find the road we SHOULD have come down. We left by that road the next morning.

Supper was LATE and the dam was pretty but full of bugs.

  • Traveling Through Montana

    15 Temmuz 2021, Amerika Birleşik Devletleri ⋅ ☀️ 90 °F

We left the Enchanted Highway and drove to the Dinosaur Museum in Glendive, MT. On the way we stopped at Painted Canyon Visitor's Center and made brunch, walked around a little looking at the Badlands.

The Dinosaur Museum was the next stop. We spent several hours there. I wanted to stop because the boys love dinosaurs and this museum is unusual in that it aligns with our belief that God created these awesome creatures.

While traveling through Montana we passed by some fields with a ton a haybales. They looked neat with so many of them.

We stayed the night just outside the campground and I woke up at 6am. I decided to walk the 1.89 miles to see if we could pull in. Doug drove the motorhome in, we figured out where we wanted to be and spent the day setting up camp. These pictures were from on my walk in to camp.Okumaya devam et

  • Camp Volleyball

    20 Temmuz 2021, Amerika Birleşik Devletleri ⋅ ⛅ 75 °F

This year Talon could not wait to play volleyball at camp. He got some great games in early on. On Tuesday morning the young vs old guys games were on. Old won 2-1. It just took a little longer for them to warm up, once they got going though, there was no stopping them! They finally just walked off the court. Tuesday afternoon the rain moved in and mud volleyball happened, that's always fun.

On Saturday camp was a little deserted while everyone left camp to go play. That's when the playing got good...Ricky Hall, Galyn Carmichael, Marvin Castor, Keith Greenfield, Doug Ausbern and Kevin Parks put a team together. Now that was some fun (funny) volleyball to watch!

All in all, Talon was satisfied. He got more comfortable spiking the ball and got some great hits in, and Weston got to play some so he was happy too. 😊

    24 Temmuz 2021, Amerika Birleşik Devletleri ⋅ ☀️ 77 °F

We got to camp on Saturday and set up, had church on Sunday, watched more and more and more and more campers roll in, went grocery shopping and missed the downpour on Tuesday, and then camp 'officially' started on Wednesday.

So much to do in such a little time. Camp flew by while we were having fun. The river/creek was extremely low this year, so tubing was the thing. It was so dusty, some thought our Jeep needed a bath. Dad said to write this message, thanks Dad! Talon talked me into walking the creek with him and Doug this year, never again, that was exhausting! We met with friends and family that we haven't seen in a long while. Some really AWESOME brethren get up early to cook everyone breakfast, (shout out to Mr. Bunn for keeping the coffee going!) And the singing around the camp🔥 is about the best singing you'll ever go to.

Last count I heard was 475 signed in, and it felt like the most RVs we've ever crammed in the park, so many brethren got to come for the 1st time this year. Good times!

Much healing was prayed for this year. 🙏Okumaya devam et

This was the last year for Bar J on Monday night. I think around 280 tickets were sold. It was a good night. For some it was our final goodbyes for another year.

Elizabeth Dunlap hurt her wrist and Josh & Trish decided to stay home with her. We took the 4 oldest kids with us. I think they enjoyed it.

I don't know who got it together, but a bunch of the young kids took a group picture. Ty, that was an awesome idea.

  • Rock Springs BLM, WY

    27 Temmuz 2021, Amerika Birleşik Devletleri ⋅ ⛅ 79 °F

We left Jackson Hole late afternoon. Josh & the guys worked on his camper, the girls did laundry and then we got on the road. We met up with Josh & Trish in Hoback and she jumped in with us for the trip to Rock Springs. We got gas and walked through the drive through for supper. After that we drove about 8 miles out of town and pulled off on some BLM land for the night. The kids loved it! They ran through the hidden canyon and played until dark. We heard some screaming at one point and after deciding nobody was hurt, we ignored it. They came back talking about their screaming/yelling contest.

Once it was dark, the bigger kids went to the camper and played games, and we sat out watching the interstate traffic go by and visited.

The next morning we made breakfast, got Josh an air filter for his smoking diesel and headed towards Irish Canyon.

Josh wanted to go through Irish Canyon and although it turns to gravel at the WY/CO state line, it's pretty smooth and a pretty drive. Just as we got through the canyon we pulled off at a picnic area and checked out the petroglyph's. Our train was ready to roll after a short break.Okumaya devam et

  • Flat Tire & Vermillion Falls, CO

    28 Temmuz 2021, Amerika Birleşik Devletleri ⋅ ☀️ 86 °F

We left Irish Canyon and got about 2 miles down the road and a tire blew. We didn't have a spare and after calling Doug found a replacement back in Rock Springs. When he went to take off the old, the inner lug nuts were a different size. A county guy came and helped us get the tire off but it was too late to go that day. Trish was sick so Josh had left Sarah and Cecil with us and took the rest of his crew to Craig, CO.

Since we were stuck for the night we loaded up and went the 1/4 mile down the road to go cool off in Vermillion Falls. Just as we got there it started raining. After playing for awhile most everyone was ready to go. Q: What happens to clay dirt when it gets wet? A: We found out! We were a muddy mess when we finally got to the top of the hill where we were parked! After getting cleaned up we ate supper, watched movies, and worked on a puzzle.

Doug and Dad left at 5:30am to go get the tires. After getting back and getting the tires changed out, we tried to pull the slide in, no juice. It took Doug awhile but he figured out the ground wire had come loose. We FINALLY got going down the road and then the motor vapor locked (never heard of it before it happened to us). We would go a couple of miles then the mh would shut down. We would sit for 5-10 minutes then it would start again, we did that over and over again and limped into Rifle, CO. After we got gas and took the insulation off the motor, we were fine.

Needless to say, a 9 hr trip turned into a 54 hr trip. Not what we planned, but not all bad and the kids did have fun and memories were made.

  • Biking in Telluride, CO

    30 Temmuz 2021, Amerika Birleşik Devletleri ⋅ ⛅ 64 °F

We have been looking forward to and preparing for biking in Telluride for months.

We didn't realize that Telluride started charging to ride on our FAVORITE trail before 5pm, so we decided to ride some of the smaller free trails until 5pm and then go on the Village trail. The Jurassic to Meadows trails were fun but the ride back in to town from the Conoco station just about killed us all. After we got back to the truck, Mom and Pearl opted out of going back up and decided to check out Telluride. We tried a few more new trails until we could ride our favorite; Village to Tommy Knocker.

We had rain from around 2pm off and on and when we got to the top of our trail, it was raining pretty hard. After a short wait, it slowed down and we decided to go for it. It was a blast!

We were muddy, cold and tired when we got through with the day, but it was so worth the excitement and planning!

  • Driving Home! NM-TX

    1 Ağustos 2021, Amerika Birleşik Devletleri ⋅ ☁️ 66 °F

We left Alamosa, NM this morning and going over La Veta Pass we found fog. It was a little scary driving in the clouds. Visibility wasn't great at all. We made it and although it's been drizzly and overcast most of the day, we didn't have bad driving weather.

Back in our home state! We've slowly lost our train. Josh & Trish then Dad & Mom and Torri @ Amarillo.

We acquired a hitchhiker in our first motorhome. He has traveled many miles and changes homes with us. You never know where he'll show up. I finally started snapping pics of him part way through the trip. These are just a few of his hideouts.
