Bill and I will be martied 50 years this coming December. We are healthy, active and have the desire to explore the US. Also gasoline is compartively low. As my mother also salid
" Go while you can". We decided to close up the house, turn in the direct tv and wifi equipment, gather our three dogs and get the Dawgy Daze on the road.
We will miss our kids, but Stacy, Scott and boys will join us later.

  • Saying good-bye

    May 15, 2016 in the United States ⋅ ☀️ 28 °C

We just buttoned up Dad and Fran's house, after preparing it for sale. Our last trip there. We had many good times at their home in Port Charlotte. At one time it was lovely. Time for new owners.

  • Gulf Islands National Seashore

    May 26, 2016 in the United States ⋅ ⛅ 26 °C

What a beautiful place. We love the panhandle beaches! It was a two days drive for us from SC. Great campsite complete with an Armadillo. Birds are plentiful too. Four night is not enough, we hope to add another day, but it is a holiday weekend!Read more

  • Love Pensacola!

    May 28, 2016 in the United States ⋅ ☀️ 26 °C

We were able to stay an extra day at Gulf Islands. What a lovely area, there was even a dog beach. Pensacola, Gulf Breeze, and Pensacola Beach are connected by bridges. There are parks and fishing bridges and lots of waterfront restaurants Last night we shared the evening with a Mom heading from Disney to Houston with her children. Heading west to Texas.Read more

  • Chiricahua National Monument

    June 5, 2016 in the United States ⋅ ☀️ 25 °C

This is suppose to be a great summer spot, as the campground is at 5000 ft. Apparently there has been a severe hear wave in S AZ. There is not a breath of air stirring and very few birds, only Mexican Jays. The nights eventually cool done but the RV is 97 degrees in the afternoon!!! We are leaving and heading to a cooler location.Read more

  • Safford RV Resort

    June 6, 2016 in the United States ⋅ ☀️ 30 °C

This park is an Escapees park. I would not recommend it! The copper mine in vicinity was the major employer and many people here were laid off. Everyone here lives at the park.

  • Greer AZ

    June 12, 2016 in the United States ⋅ ☀️ 21 °C

Greer is a beautiful Alpine village with Ponderosa pines and log cabin lodges and homes. Our camp site and campground was beautiful. The weather was wonderful and the sound of the breeze in the pines was relaxing. We attended a small "Greer Days" festival, ate out at a local spot and went to a small museum. The museum was the log cabin home of J Schultz from NY society who lives with the Blackfoot Indians and wrote over 30 books of his life. The road up here from Safford was a white knuckle ride.Read more

  • Pine Flat Campground

    June 16, 2016 in the United States ⋅ ☀️ 23 °C

Our next stop was between Sedona AZ and Flagstaff AZ, so we could explore both areas. Sedona is incedibly beautiful, but much more developed than I remembered when we were last here. The Campground was in Oak Creek Canyon which is very scenic. The weather proved to be very hot and we had no electric hook up at this park for air conditioning. I must say i did not realize the park was on a road that was very busy, so the campground was at times like sitting on a hot freeway with incredible views. The good, bad and ugly.Read more

  • West Fork Trail

This trail cuts through a canyon of incredible beauty. The hike is so popular you need to arrive before 8:00 AM to get a parking space. There were wild Columbines growing in the cliffs and various birds and butterflies.Read more

  • Grand Canyon National Park

    June 20, 2016 in the United States ⋅ ☀️ 32 °C

We finally were meeting Stacy, Scott, Jack and Ryan at The Grand Canyon to begin our family adventure. We were there for two nights and had a great time. They stayed at the Yavapai Lodge and we stayed at the Yavapai Trailer Park Village, which were both very convenient to the Visitor Centee and the park shuttle. We had lunch at the historic El Tovor Lodge, view Native American dancing, and the group hiked a bit down Bright Angel Trail. Amazing! On our way to our next stop, Lake Powell, we stopped at the Desert View stop to view more incedible vistas.Read more

A one night quick trip to Lake Powell. We stayed in Wahweap CG and Stacy and Scott stay in the Wahweap Resort. We had a beautiful ride and then took a two hour boat ride on Lake Powell. That night we had Sushi in town. The next morning we toured Antelope Slot Canyon with a Navajo Guide company. The trip out to the canyon was proceeded but an amazing young man who performed a hoop dance. An incredible 24 hours.Read more

  • Zion National Park

    June 28, 2016 in the United States ⋅ ☀️ 32 °C

Five great nights at Zion National Park. The kids left today for Bryce NP and then they head back home. We head west toward CA tomorrow. We have had so much fun and have enjoyed every minute. I got tears in my eyes when they left. One day we all hiked the Narrows. Stacy and Scott did a few more challenging hikes and took the boys to the museum. They stayed at the Cliffrose Lodge which was just across the Virgin River from our campground. We were able to wade across the river (which haD a sandy shore) and join them at their lodge. The kids went down the Virgin River on tubes and loved it. What a great time!!!Read more

    September 18, 2016 in the United States ⋅ ⛅ 17 °C

We just spent two fabulous weeks camping in the Redwoods. The campgrounds were Praire Creek #28, Mill Creek # 39, and Jedediah Smith #52. The last site was on the Smith River and probably our favorite. We did the Stillman Grove and Stout Grove Trail, as well as the Praire Creek Trail, Lady Bird Johnson trail andFern Canyon. Loved it all!Read more
