Bergen food tour

Norway was a poor country until 50 years ago when oil was discovered. Food is an expression of their geography and financials: it can only be grown in summer months (potatoes, leeks and berries); hunting season is limited (fish, deer, whales and goat); and the rest of the food would have to be imported but it was too expensive until recently.

Today, the food I tried was a delicious mix of the above-mentioned ingredients, created in restaurants born 2-5 years ago, only thanks to tourism industry. Locals don’t eat at restaurants; they prefer convenience to quality (only place where I have seen pizza buffets 😱).もっと詳しく
