Staying 3 nights in a cabana

    August 28, 2021 on the Seychelles ⋅ ⛅ 27 °C

    Enjoying bananas with a view🍌🍌🍌

After arriving at Mahé Airport and finding a car for the next six days we will be staying on the island, we drive to our first accommodation, which is nothing short of incredible. Being completely blown away by the lush forest and the white sandy beaches right next to the main road (not to mention the babyblue ocean), we arrive at A Peace in Paradise. Taking pride in being eco-friendly, the place offers a number of cute bungalows in what can only be called the most beautiful garden we have ever seen. So many colourful plants! Surrounded by palm trees and a gigantic bamboo, and in the company of geckos🦎, we enjoy the little bananas from the garden. Paradise!

...and we found a new friend🐦

  • First beach experience - Noiice

    August 28, 2021 on the Seychelles ⋅ ⛅ 27 °C

The beach Anse à la Mouche is just a few hundred meters from our bungalow. Getting into the water is a rather sandy experience since it is not deep at all. Nevertheless, the temperature and the weather are amazing, not to mention that we are almost the only ones around. A stark contrast to what we experienced in Greece, that's for sure.Read more

  • Petite Anse - Just stunning

    August 29, 2021 on the Seychelles ⋅ ⛅ 27 °C

If paradise is a beach, it's probably this one.

After a few minutes drive from our bungalow, we are suddenly stopped at a gate by a security guard. Is it not possible to go to the beach? Of course it is. Just a temperature check first, and we need to leave our contact details. Corona measures are truly something else in the Seychelles: Temperature checks at every restaurant before getting seated, at every sightseeing spot, and, naturally then, at the most important beaches. Masks are also mandatory in public and when you are more than two people in a group and you cannot prove you are from the same household. Despite practically everything taking place outside. We are truly impressed by people's diligence. Some ought to take note.

As for the beach: The pictures probably give a better impression than words ever could. Just stunning!

  • Anse Royale

    August 29, 2021 on the Seychelles ⋅ ⛅ 27 °C

Wanting to eat something from one of the many Take-away stands, we soon realize that with the few Rupees we have, we won't get anything. We thus drive to the other side of the island - which luckily is only about ten minutes away - to an ATM, since the exchange office is closed on a Sunday. There we enjoy Samosas and chips, and even get a restaurant recommendation in Geneva from a Russian flight attendant eating there.

Since we are so close already, we overturn our plans for the day and have a look at Anse Royale. The rocks keep us from swimming here, making it a bit more difficult to get into the water. Yes, we are getting so spoilt with all these nice beaches around, we start caring about such details😜 However, we still enjoy the view immensely and take some nice pictures.

  • Rock pool

    August 29, 2021 on the Seychelles ⋅ ⛅ 25 °C

The pool is right next to the ocean, allowing waves to come crashing in every once in a while. For this reason it is only possible to swim in it during low tide.
Getting there takes around 30min on a beautiful trail through the jungle. We even stumble upon a Tenrek, a Seychellois hedgehog. Very cute!
We are lucky and meet two Russian tourists on the way and hence omit taking a wrong turn and getting lost. Nevertheless, it is quite difficult to stay on the right path, since the white arrows are sparse at times. But we manage and enjoy a refreshing jump into the water.

  • And another great beach: Anse Intendance

    August 29, 2021 on the Seychelles ⋅ ☁️ 27 °C

Beautiful but wild beach. The waves are rather high and great to "surf" along with. Although not with a board: The two surfers have to give up eventually; the waves are crashing too soon.

  • Police bay

    August 29, 2021 on the Seychelles ⋅ ☁️ 26 °C

Apéro at Police bay all the way in the south of the island🍻

  • Venn's Town / Mission Lodge

    August 30, 2021 on the Seychelles ⋅ ⛅ 24 °C

After our hike in the national park, we plan on visiting Sauzier waterfall for a well-deserved swim. On our way we come across Mission lodge, which we have read about but that wasn't on our list of planned activities. The few ruins and the viewpoint nevertheless turn out fascinating. Venn's Town used to (initially) be where liberated African's children went to school in the 19th century, and is thus a testimony to the slave trade. The viewpoint was also visited by the British Queen in 1972.Read more

  • Sauzier Waterfall

    August 30, 2021 on the Seychelles ⋅ ⛅ 26 °C

We still made it to the waterfall, of course. The guy at the ticket office is so nice he let's us pay in euro, because we had used up our rupees at Venn's Town already. We have the waterfall and pool almost to ourselves and even see a golden-silk spider. Big but harmless, according to Google🕷Read more
