Aspendos Theatre

Now this is a theatre that can put on a show!

Aspendos Theatre was, by far, the most, the most impressive so far. It’s so well preserved, they still have concerts and theatre plays here. We would’ve loved to see one live, but there wasn’t anything for another 5 days.

Aspendos exists from the 5th century BC, but the theatre was built in the 2nd century BC, under Marcus Aurelius. The city was a major sea port under roman rule, but remained influential no matter who was in power.

How majestic, to build a theatre more than 2000 years ago that still hold gatherings. Absolutely impressive!Read more
