The next stop on our Albanian journey is the town of Shkodër in the north, on the shores of Lake Shkodër. We walked through the city to Rozafa Castle, a former Illyrian stronghold overlooking the city and the lake.
Afterwards, we walked back to the city to enjoy a well-earned beer and a bite to eat. While we were there, one of the street dogs took a liking to Nicky and sat with us the whole time. We noticed that he had an ear tag, as did a number of other dogs. A quick Google search explained that a program introduced in 2016 involved sterilization and vaccination of stray dogs. When this is done, the dog gets an ear tag and is set free. The locals love them and they're well fed. What a great idea.Read more
