  • At sea day towards Cozumel

    February 4, 2024, North Atlantic Ocean ⋅ 🌬 72 °F

Although Peggy and I opted for the bargain basement priced interior room, it’s a great option. The beds are very comfortable, plenty of storage and our only gripe is not enough outlets. After a squall with 60 mph winds, We started our at-sea day with a fruit carving demonstration, proving that there are many skills that I have yet to master.Read more

  • Cozumel cruise ship heaven

    February 5, 2024 in Mexico ⋅ 🌬 72 °F

Many cruise ships in port in Cozumel, an island that essentially lives off the tourist trade. The island has 90,000 people but because of the soil does not grow a very wide variety of produce. Most of the people are of Mayan descent and proud of their heritage.

Throughout the day the wind picked up and the surf was very rough. The photos are of surrounding cruise ships at dock and a through-the-floor view of the dock.

  • Cozumel in port at night

    February 5, 2024 in Mexico ⋅ 🌬 72 °F

Choppy seas and winds have extended our time in Cozumel thru to 1:00 am. Bad weather cancelled Roatan, Honduras tomorrow so we can sleep in, go to the fitness center, etc. meanwhile, there’s Motown music in the piazza, and the Irish group is moving into party mode…and Peggy has discovered that when she walks by the info signs, they flash a Happy Birthday Peggy message.Read more

  • Honduras a no-go, a great day tho

    February 6, 2024, Caribbean Sea ⋅ 🌬 79 °F

Bad weather kept the ship away from Roatan Honduras so we spent the day just playing. Line dancing, mini massages, trivia, high tea with some of the Irish group with Irish music later tonight. With the Irish ladies we swapped stories about our Irish relatives with a few shady characters coming up. Writing this while drinking Bellinis before dinner.Read more

  • Belize and Howler Monkeys

    February 7, 2024 in Belize ⋅ ☀️ 75 °F

Belize City, Belize, where we did an excursion to the Community Baboon Sanctuary, followed by Creole food. BTW, the Belizians use the term Baboon to refer to Howler Monkeys—which are NOT baboons! Iguanas, Agouti (looks like an overgrown guinea pig), Rufus hummingbirds, Kingfishers and so on.

A swim, dinner with a lovely Australian couple, an 80s trivia rounded out the day.

  • Mayan immersion

    February 8, 2024, Caribbean Sea ⋅ 🌬 79 °F

Costa Maya port led us to an excursion to explore the Mayan culture. Since the town itself is relatively small, this 5 hour trip took us to a Mayan home, lunch, tequila sampling (again!), and a small ruin, along with an excellent commentary. Alas, the bus broke down , but the held the ship 🛳️ for us until we arrived back.Read more
