    Dale and I attended Kent State in the 1970s, a few years after the shootings on May 4 1970. Since then the campus has expanded and still seems to be in the midst of a building boom. Pictures are of the campus today, the memorial and it’s famous black squirrels.Read more

  • Long Live Rock 'n Roll

    Rock ‘n Roll Hall of Fame today — it was excellent! Lots of music and memorabilia and they are getting ready for the newest honoree ceremony next weekend! All the favorite groups and singers are represented, from jazz, blues, Elvis, Beatles, and my favorite Bruce Springsteen.Read more

  • Grad school reunion

    Our friend Dave has retired and threw a party. A group from Kent State University chemistry grad school, circa 1978, traveled from afar to meetup and celebrate. We drove about 530 miles from S. Carolina, others from Rhode Island 500 miles and N. Carolina. Great time and great food.Read more

    Where’s the best place to get pierogies and many types of kielbasa—Cleveland’s West Side market. Filled with food vendors represented the wide mix of Cleveland’s ethnicities, it’s filled with vendors with Czech, Irish, German,Hungarian and Amish food. Dale and I loaded up on kielbasa as a gift for my brother Doug.Read more

  • Full Cry Farm

    Overnight at my brother Doug and Lesley dressage horse farm near Cincinnati. Gorgeous horses, one of which was getting acupuncture treatment that day. Other animals featured: Very friendly lab named Captain, a bossy Corgi named Trapper, and a protective killdeer bird mama was who had laid her eggs in the middle of the driveway.Read more

  • Distillery mold and barbeque

    Dale loves his bourbon so we used our trip to Lexington Kentucky to visit distilleries, see beautiful horse country and eat barbecue. Distillery mold is a byproduct of bourbon aging (really a fungus) resulting in a black coating on the buildings. The pictures here are of old distilleries that are being restored back into new distilleries.

    And the barbecue was Red State Barbeque. So good.
