Laurie ReynoldsSo glad you are in acequia-land, Elaine. I remember when I stayed in the private CR in Grimaldo, on the Vdlp., and the owner (César) took me around while he unlocked his acequias to let the water flow for the permitted time. There was a rusty plate that blocked the flow, and the key unlocked it so he could raise it. There was apparently one set of keys that regularly make the circuit, so each owner takes them on to the next owner at the prescribed time after locking up their acequia. Is there a similar system in the area you’re walking in now? I’m guessing not, since your picture showed rocks and dirt. But I wonder if there is a similar sharing schedule among the neighbors.
