• Hoi An aka Shopping central!

    September 18 in Vietnam ⋅ ☁️ 26 °C

Our sleeper bus dropped us in Hoi An at 4am. Unfortunately we learnt that 24hr reception isn’t 24hrs in Vietnam so we ended up sleeping a few hours in the reception lobby on a couch. Around 8am we woke up and decided to head out into the heat! Hoi An weather is much like Ho Chi Minh City, humid and hot! Da Lat was a nice change from that.
We explored Old Town where Vietnam is best known for shopping! Hoi An is best known for leather! You can get basically anything made with any type of leather.. cow, buffalo and all for great prices!
Amos had custom leather birks made, and I had a handbag made!
We did a quick coconut boat ride which was fun although nothing like what the internet shows.. I think we were the only boat out on the water. We went back for the same Bahn mi for lunch that we had for breakfast!
A quick nap back at our accomodation was needed and a pleasant break from the heat.
In the evening we headed out to wonder the night markets, put another order in for custom shoes and then went on the lantern boats over Thu Bon River.
Definitely lived out our ‘Tangled’ moment! Super romantic and beautiful! We put our biggest wish into the river and watched it float around! We wondered the markets for a short time more and then headed back for an early night in bed, on our way back we experienced Hoi An’s speciality - pouring rain, flooding streets within seconds of a clear sky. And then clears up again moments later! Travelling Vietnam is the perfect place for having no plans and going with the flow.. everything has to be adjusted around the weather if you want to avoid being soaked!
