Happy birthday Sparsh!

I rode the train to Geneva, where I was met by Sparsh. She cycles between France and Geneva each day for work, so she's a kindred spirit. Schopper carefully observes her bicycle, and approves of the same good tires.

We ride back straight towards the Haut Jura mountains "until we can't anymore". This is where I shelter from the storm.

The next day is Sparsh's birthday. So her boys Ayu and Kiran, with all the fuss that it entails, blew up balloons and 'helped' Patrice put together a surprise for mom. A joyful little family moment.

Sparsh reminds me I can't call her a kiddo anymore. 🙂Read more

Today was a rest day for Schopper and the sandals. So I snuck out to clamber around the mountains behind the house.

The steep path through the pine forests, and beyond the tree line brought me up to Le Reculet (the reclined). From there I walked the ridge to Crête de la neige (Snow ridge), which lives up to its name and I had to trudge through some snow banks. And thus I reached the highest point (1720 m) of the Jura mountains!

The clear weather kept the Alps in view, and the higher I got the closer they seemed to be - all day the Mont Blanc seemed to be glowing at me.

This turned out to be a grueling 8-hour trek. Totally worth it for the distant views, the crisp and still air of the mountains and a chunky challenge completed.Read more

Up at 6am and left the Best Western Park Hotel, 185 Avenue du Mont Blanc, Thoiry France at 7.20am to return the rental car. We had a problem free drive to the Hertz rental car area in the French part of Geneva Airport. As the rental desk was unattended we could only put the keys and papers in a slot. We then walked to the Swiss side of Geneva Airport crossing the border between France and Switzerland. We were only able to do this as we had airline tickets and boarding passes. On the Swiss side we joined long and slow queues for bag drop off, metal detection and passport processing. We were in our seats on the plane about 10 minutes before the scheduled takeoff at 9.50am. The flight took off after 10am and I took some photos from the window. Flight arrived in Doha Qatar around 4.45pm local time. We had 3 hours in the Hamad International Airport before our next flight (2 hours before boarding).Read more

Eh bien, je suis obligée de créer objectif Portugal 2 , car le traceur ne voulait pas reconnaître le 1er.

Début de voyage mouvementé : au stop en bas du chemin de Cacière, un voyant sur le tableau de bord, nous indique qu'il faut faire contrôler le moteur! Donc direction le garage à St Genis, complètement surchargé, qui nous donne un rdv pour mercredi prochain!!😭
Retour à la case départ à Sergy, Claude ouvre le capot, fait bouger quelques fils, et là miracle! Le voyant s'éteint 😅
2ème départ, on a juste perdu 1 h.😊
Nous voici posés à Orcet près de Clermont Ferrand.

Comment dire ? Je ferai surement ce que je voulais faire.. mais pas de la manière dont je l'avais imaginé et pas au moment que j'avais prévu.. tant de fois la vie m'a donné cette leçon mais c'est tellement dure de l'assimiler "t'as beau prévoir ça se passe (quasiment) jamais comme prévu" et pourtant ça tire des plans autant que ça peut se faire.. on continue d'y croire et pourtant lache.. lâche donc.. pose ton gros sac.. et laisse venir.. simple.. et tellement dure.. sur ces parole de merde ! Fin de notre escapade dans le Jura, car nous partons samedi prochain pour Mandelieu la Napoule avec le groupe de " la Bonne Equipe".
Nous avons parcouru 497 km et consommé 51l de gasoil, soit 9.75l/100km. Nous n'avons pas comptabilisé les heures, car il y a eu de nombreux arrêts.
Le Jura est magnifique, il y a de nombreux petits lacs, des falaises impressionnantes et de belles cascades qui n'ont malheureusement pas beaucoup d'eau en ce moment.Read more
