    Ch'aki Mayu summit from Sucre

    October 18 in Bolivia ☀️ 15 °C

Wanting to prepare for the long-distance hikes I have planned for later, I looked at the highest mountains around Sucre. Found this one, unfortunately no information about it at all, nor any hiking trail on any map I could find.
Still, I accepted the challenge and started at 7am from the hostel.

Spoiler, I did manage to summit but was close to giving up many times. Very unstable rocks on steep parts, a climbing move next to a drop and finally the time limit till sunset were the biggest challenges. Let's not forget also the altitude which I was not completely used to yet and the sun, uv index 11-12 during the day.

Link to a compilation of my GoPro videos during the hike (don't forget to switch quality from auto to 1440p)

  • Sucre la Ciudad Blanca

    Oct 15–22 in Bolivia 🌬 21 °C

Sucre was the perfect stop on the way up to the high altitudes of La Paz.

The city is known for its white colonial buildings and its Spanish schools. Its streets reminded me of Spanish coastal towns (minus the sea).
My amazing Spanish teacher Beth took me along to dance classes. I didn't know a single step and was the only beginner, so it was really hard, but I had lots of fun and met some really great people.
And I'll get to see some again! Beth might be teaching Spanish near Lyon for a year, Carlos is going volunteering in Stuttgart (yes Stuttgart Germany, I was bouche b as well, why Stuttgart)
As for my Spanish, unfortunately no big breakthrough, but it definitely got better. If people speak rather slowly and without a strong accent, I understand basically everything. Answering is harder, but I make myself understood.

    Next stop LA PAZ

    Oct 12–14 in Bolivia ☁️ 26 °C

    Worst flight of my life.
The food made me throw up, got headaches and couldn't sleep for the whole 10 hours.

    Other than that
Nice hostel, nice haircut, nice people
City is really big but the center feels fairly towny. Only low buildings and many small shops.
Great introduction into Bolivia I would say
Got to meet my first Bolivian Friends and other backpackers

    TODO: add pictures and videos
