The Axe historique (“historical axis" in English), also know as Voie Triomphale ("triumphal way") extends from the centre of Paris to the West-Northwest of the city. Reaching from Notre-Dame, in the very heart of the capital, to Europe’s largest purpose built business district, La Défense. Closed by the cathedral on the East and La Grande Arche de la Défense in the West the line is home to such monuments as the Arc de Triomphe and Musée du Louvre.
Under Napoleon’s arch we paused before the tomb of the unknown soldier and the eternal flame 🔥 We then took the oldest Metro line in the city all the way down the Champs-Élysées to the Louvre.
Fire took a new meaning as we stood before Notre-Dame, rising from the ashes of the 2019 fire. Restored by hundreds of France’s best craftsmen the cathedral is set to be reopened at the end of the year 🪜👨🎨Read more
