    Nice - I'm in Love

    August 15, 2019 in France ⋅ 🌙 23 °C

After a reasonable nights sleep in the shoe box we made our way to the station. We had breakfast in a park, with a group of homeless people circling us for smokes. No luck with us. It is amazing how many homeless people we have seen in France, and makes me think how incredibly lucky we are to be able to live our life as we are.

The train was once again fast and got us to Marseille where we had a three hour stopover. We stored our luggage and went to find somewhere for a glass of wine, of course! A truly beautiful town that has a beautiful port and looks like it would be great to explore! Maybe next time 😉😉

Onto Nice where our Air BnB turned out to be amazing and our hosts were lovely and helpful, giving up their room so we could stay for two night! We dumped our bags and headed off to find the beach, which was beautiful. We found a place on the beach to sit and sip our drinks and watch the amazing fireworks they had arranged on our behalf, obviously!

Wandered back along the streets and had a kebab as we walked. A very relaxing and pleasant city that we will explore tomorrow.

    Nizza

    April 1, 2019 in France ⋅ ⛅ 19 °C

Gute Nacht

    Cathédrale Russe

    September 21, 2019 in France ⋅ ⛅ 22 °C

    Nice

    August 29, 2016 in France ⋅ ⛅ 24 °C

Nice is nice. But also very lively, vibrant city. We came just moments before it got dark. From busy 'LA beachy type' of city where people are running, walking, exercising on the sidewalks, to the bustling city, where sleep is apparently not on the menu, as there is so much going on.

We took a stroll down the Promenade de Anglais towards old harbour, sea breeze was just what we needed and the view was nice too. Promenade is very long and it's facing the sea all the way. Even though the attack happened here on this place only one month ago, we weren't feeling afraid or felt any uncomfortable vibes. City lives on, as it should.

We watched street dancers, musicians and colorful fountains. On the way back to the car, we spotted tons of restaurants and hotels. It seemed like it's very important where you eat, like you give certain statement by eating at the most expensive restaurant. This massive turism of 'show me the money' type isn't really our thing, but for the night or two, we would be okay even here. At least the view is nice ;)

    Train ride to Nice

    July 30, 2017 in France ⋅ ⛅ 28 °C

Woke up early for one last swim (I let Laura keep sleeping) before we packed up and checked out. A series of delayed trains made our ride into France take a little longer than planned, but we made it with plenty of time left in the afternoon to walk around and have dinner.

We went past kilometers and kilometers of beach, which made for an interesting view on the way over. Monaco and Monte Carlo were impressive as well, but I'm glad we're staying in Nice instead.Read more

    2nd night in Nice

    July 31, 2017 in France ⋅ ⛅ 26 °C

Since we failed in our quest to find a place to swim up in the mountains, we desperately wanted to hit one of the beaches Nice has to offer. The water was fantastic, and the surf made for a great swim.

Feeling like we had gotten some much needed exercise after a day in the car, we headed back into old town to find a good place to eat. Once again, dinner was first rate. Nice is a great place to walk around at night, with a lively stretch along the beach and promenade.

Also pictured was the tiny elevator in our hotel, which had a nasa-style rocket launch countdown as you ascend. Laura was not amused.

    July 21, 2016 in France ⋅ ⛅ 28 °C

Wieder einmal geschafft:-)Read more
