First Day Aboard Dream Moorea
February 20 in French Polynesia ⋅ 🌙 27 °C
We boarded the Dream Moorea (a 62’ catamaran) at noon & met our shipmates. With us, we have two couples, & a single man, from Germany, a single man from France & another couple from Canada (near Montreal). We motored from Papeete to a sheltered anchoring spot next to Moorea Is. where we enjoyed dinner aboard. We saw a sea turtle & some reef sharks right beside the boat.Read more

La formation des îles polynésiennes

Les îles polynésiennes ont été formées par plusieures éruptions volcaniques sous-marines. Elles sont groupées en cinq archipels orientés dans le même sens.

Au début il y a un volcan, qui en s'enfonçant devient une île entourée de corail. L'île continue à s'enfoncer, il ne reste alors plus que la barrière de corail et ses motus. C'est ce qu'on appelle un atoll.

richard zanelli Salut les BRU, ...et oui, la France d'outre-mer a ses charmes ! vos photos nous rappellent un peu chez nous, à la Réunion, et aussi nos vacances de Noël aux Seychelles (j'ai personnellement bcp aimé). Bon, puisque la vie sous le tropique vous plaît, passez donc nous voir au cours de votre voyage ! La maison est grande... comme notre sens de l'hospitalité. Richard, Sophie, Basile, Raphaël et Clément.

Intercontinental Tahiti

Unser erster Tag auf Tahiti. Das Hotel ist sehr schön mit eigenem Lagoonarium.

Am Abend haben wir das Glück bei einem polynesischen Buffet eine tolle traditionelle Tanzshow zu erleben.

Day 8
Sharks & Manta Rays
February 21 in French Polynesia ⋅ ⛅ 28 °C
Close to Moorea Island, we snorkelled amongst Reef sharks (up to 6’ long) & manta rays, which were at least that length, including their tails. This was a fantastic experience, as we saw many of these in very shallow, clear water! We also snorkelled over some ancient Tiki statues that were in 3-4 metres of water. In the afternoon, while some of our shipmates went on a Moorea Is. tour, we decided to walk towards a village, as the captain moored the boat on a large dock. It was very warm and we made it to within 3 kms of the nearest village. After an hour, we decided to turn around. We did see some black pearl, vegetable & fruit & clothing stalls along the route. We got our 10000 steps in this afternoon. After dinner, we set off on an overnight motor. We travelled 142 kms in 11 hours. It was very hot overnight without AC & some guests decided to sleep on deck on both levels.Read more

Day 4
Tahiti mit dem Leihwagen erkunden
February 19 in French Polynesia ⋅ ☀️ 28 °C
Nach einem traditionellen polynesischen Brunch mit Tanzshow sind wir mit unserem Leihwagen vom Intercontinental Resort gestartet.

Der erste größere Halt hat uns zum Leuchtturm (Plage de Point Venus) geführt. Hier waren viele Familien am Strand und die Kids haben gesurft.

Später haben wir noch den Brandungs- Geysire (Arahoho) , die Aussichtsplattform (Plateau de Taravao) den botanischen Garten ( water gardens Vaipahi) sowie die Grotten (Grottes De Mara‘a) besucht.

Die Sehenswürdigkeiten sind alle sehr gepflegt und kostenlos.

Immer wieder haben wir angehalten um uns die Strände anzusehen.

Abends gab es Dinner an den bekannten Foodtrucks in Papeete.Read more

Sailing Cruise Day 5 - Huahine
March 16 in French Polynesia ⋅ ☁️ 28 °C
4h sail from Taha’a to beautiful Huahine. The island owes its name to the silhouette of a pregnant woman lying on her back, drawn from the peaks of Mount Tavaiura. Huahine really is a breathtaking beauty. We could see her forehead, her face and the shapes of her belly clearly from the Marina of Fare which is the island’s capital.
Huahine literally means "gender of a woman" but the locals translated it to “woman from the heart” to us which they said is the original ancient meaning.

As soon as we arrived at Huahine we had Lunch on deck. Afterwards we took the dinghy to the Coral Garden just off Motu Vaiorea which was really nice. Homai explained to us that the coral reef looked much different when he was young and we couldn’t help but feel a little bit sad that this natural habitat for so many aquatic species was clearly in decline.

After our snorkeling excursion we went to the nearby hotel “Le Mahana” for a round of cocktails by the beach. The location was lovely and the drinks were excellent.Read more

Ankunft auf Tahiti

Nach einer langen Reisezeit mit 36 Stunden von Düsseldorf über Paris und L.A. sind wir früh morgens auf Papeete gelandet.

Wir wurden herzlich begrüßt auf Tahiti.

Einschiffung auf dem Katamaran
