It was already a very long day getting our trailer safe to travel. We decided to stock up and grab a sandwich-to-go at the last Whole Foods before we arrived in the Keys where we are sure the only thing you can get to eat is crabs and mangos. (Not that there's anything wrong with that.)

We finally got on the road about 1:30. After just an hour we found ourselves actually navigating Highway 1 through the Keys themselves. Though we negotiated some pretty dramatic storm weather on the way, the squalls were short-lived. We got giddy rubber-necking at all the exotic tropical plants and festive island-themed businesses. We congratulated ourselves on arriving at one of the few places in the US not currently experiencing sub-freezing temperatures.

We have a great campsite backing up to a strip of mangroves right on the water. They are just thick enough to protect us from the 25 mph winds that came up last night. We slept like babies with the windows wide open. Fortunately we are well stocked with food, as the agenda for today has been to do ... let's see ... oh yes ... NOTHING!!
