    Tyndall Effect, Spain

    yesterday when we returned from cartagena i saw this sky over the mar menor. i love this kind of sky... the tündl-sky i call it... i found this word back in school (to explain: my first exam subject in the "abitur" was physics).
    the tyndall effect describes the scattering of light by microscopic airborne particles, with dimensions similar to the wavelength of light, which are generally suspended in a "turbid medium", especially a liquid or gas. the effect is named after its discoverer, john tyndall, who studied the scattering of light in colloidal solutions. now a gadget with a wonderful name: a *tyndalloscope* or *nephelometer* serves as a measuring device.
    i know this is nerdy, since i am nerdy 🤪 - but isn't that a wonderful effect with a wonderful name? i looooooove ❤️❤️❤️ the tündl-effect...
