• From Lákones to Paleokastrítsa

    11. april 2023, Hellas ⋅ ☀️ 14 °C

Paleokastrítsa is beautifully situated on the coast and is considered by many Corfiots to be the most beautiful place on earth. However, there is no actual village center there: hotels, houses and taverns are scattered loosely across the grandiose landscape and are often hidden between olive trees and cypresses.

The best view of the bay is from the mountain village of Lákones, also known as the balcony of the Ionian Sea. From here, a footpath takes about 40 minutes down through an olive grove to Paleokastrítsa, while the winding road there is over 6 km long.

I hiked this path today and was very enthusiastic about it - if you are in the area you should definitely walk this route.

Paleokastrítsa is then located directly on a bay. It is further divided into a series of small bays by several rocky peninsulas. Most of the coast is rocky, but in between there are small sandy beaches, many of which can only be reached by boat. Everywhere the lush green reaches right up to the water, in the hinterland the slopes rise several hundred meters high.

In Paleokastrítsa I then sat down in a café right on the beach and enjoyed a frappe.

    What a nice day ❤️❤️❤️
