Stomorska

Today, it’s raining and so I will tell you something about the village I stay in.
Stomorska is a small village on the island of Šolta, and it immediately felt like I had stepped into another world. Stomorska, one of the oldest ports on the island, is a charming little place nestled along a bay, surrounded by crystal-clear turquoise waters and traditional stone houses. The village’s relaxed atmosphere, with its fishing boats swaying gently in the harbor, instantly made me feel at ease.
Šolta is a relatively small island, just a short ferry ride from Split, yet it feels worlds away from the hustle and bustle of the mainland. It’s a perfect escape for anyone looking for a quieter, more authentic Croatian experience. Unlike the more touristic spots like Hvar or Brač, Šolta retains a sense of peace, with its untouched landscapes, olive groves, and vineyards that stretch as far as the eye can see.
Some days ago I was wandering through the narrow streets of Stomorska, admiring the old stone buildings with their red-tiled roofs and the colorful flowers spilling out of windowsills. The village has a long history, originally founded as a fishing port, and you can still feel that connection to the sea today. Watching the local fishermen unload their daily catch made me realize how closely tied the community is to the rhythms of the Adriatic.
Stomorska has several small beaches, and I found a quiet spot where I could swim in the clear, calm sea. The water here is so clean and refreshing - it’s like swimming in a natural pool.
When the sun sets, Stomorska transforms into an even more magical place. The colors of the sky reflects in the water, and the village lights up with a soft, golden glow. Then I sit on my balcony by the harbor, sipping a glass of local wine, watching as the boats coming in for the evening. There’s something truly special about the simplicity of life here.
Šolta might not be as famous as some of Croatia's other islands, but that’s exactly what makes it so special. It’s a place where you can slow down, connect with nature, and experience the traditional Croatian island life at its finest. In short: good choice!En savoir plus
