Port Lincoln - Der Weiße Hai

Port Lincoln, the capital city of the Eyre Peninsula. It is the only place in whole Australia where you can go to dive with the great white shark. With sunrise we left the harbour of Port Lincoln to go all the way to the Neptune Islands - a three hour one way trip. Luckly we had perfect conditions with no waves at all as usually this part if the south pacific ocean is rough, very rough! The boat hasn't even stopped for 5 minutes in a sheltered bay at North Neptune Island when the first great white shark was around the boat. In a hussle the crew put the cage into the water and the rest was just a very special experience. We had the chance to stay a whole hour in the cage to watch these four white sharks swimming around us. Absolutely stunning!

Port Lincoln, die größte Stadt auf der Eyre Peninsula. Eigentlich ist es mehr ein Fischerdorf als eine Stadt doch mittlerweile ein Touristenhotspot. Es ist der einzige Ort in Australien in dem man noch mit dem weißen Hai tauchen darf und das ist genau weshalb wir hier sind. Mit Sonnenaufgang ging es aufs Boot um die dre stündige Überfahrt zu den Neptune Islands zu starten. Zum Glück hatten wir perfekte Bedingungen auf der sonst so berüchtigten welligen Fahrt und so konnte sogar Janine die Bootsfahrt genießen. Angekommen in einer Bucht von North Neptune Island hat es keine fünf Minuten gedauert bis der erste von vier weißen Haien um unser Boot schwamm. Die Crew ließ den Käfig schnell zu Wasser und am Ende konnten wir eine ganze Stunde im Käfig bleiben und die Haie beobachten. Was ein Erlebnis! Und ja das Wasser war kalt, verdammt kalt!Les mer
