    Biathlon Men's Relay

    Today we visited the Biathlon Relay. At the end we were celebrating a bronze medal. It was our last event at the Olympics, but at least for the Paralympics closing ceremony on 18th March we will go to Pyeongchang once again.

    Heute haben nochmal Männeerstaffel im Biathlon angefeuert. Am Ende hat es zur Bronze Medallie gereicht.
    Es war der letzte Wettkampf den wir uns live bei dieser Olympiade angesehen haben. Spätestens zur Abschlussfeier der Paralympics am 18. März werden wir allerdings zurück nach Pyeongchang kommen.    Lue lisää

    Unification Observatory - DMZ

    Today we have done a trip to the northernmost point of South Korea the public can go to. From here we could take another look on the border to North Korea.

    Austria House - Pyeongchang

    Awesome night today: We have arrived at Pyeongchang :) and made a trip to the German and Austrian House. As the German House is very exclusive we were not able to go in but the guys from Austria let us in. We had some really, really good Käsespätzle and Kaiserschmarrn and met a lot of very nice people there. The Austrian backer gave us some fresh baked bread. The first real bread since we have started our trip! A big thanks to Günther!!!
    At the end the bar sponsored some Mozart Liquor. You should try that! All in all a very great evening. Austria you are great :)

    And of course a big thanks to Amelie who showed us around in this area.

    Ein wirklich cooler Abend heute: Wir sind in Pyeongchang angekommen und waren am Deutschen und Österreichischen Haus. Leider ist das deutsche Haus sehr exklusiv weshalb wir leider nicht rein könnten, allerdings haben uns die Österreicher ins Haus gelassen. Wir hatten super leckere Käsespätzle und noch besseren Kaiserschmarrn. Zusätzlich hat uns der Österreichische Bäcker noch mit frisches Brot gesponsert. Es ist unser erster richtiges Brot seit Anfang Dezember. Vielen Dank Günther!!!
    Am Ende gab es sogar noch ein paar Schnäpse aufs Austria Haus. Ihr solltet mal Mozart Chocolate Likör probieren!Österreich ihr seid super!

    Und natürlich auch noch ein großes Dankeschön an Amelie. Ohne dich wären wir wohl nicht dorthin gekommen. ;)    Lue lisää

    Retro Game Bar

    Tonight we have celebrated Valentine's Day in a Retro Game Bar. At the end we played more than 6 hours Super Mario Kart. That was fun :D

    Den Valentinstag haben wir heute in einer Retro Game Bar gefeiert. Am Ende haben wir mehr als 6 Stunden Super Mario Kart gespielt. Es war super witzig! :DLue lisää

    A dance performance Gangnam haven't seen so far... :D

    After our trip to the DMZ we explored Gangnam and ate a traditional Korean ice cream. Yummy!

    Dorasan Station - Last Station

    Our last stop in the DMZ was Dorasan Station. It is the last station of South Korea. But the railroad is connected to the North Korean Railroad so in case of an unification you could travel from South Korea to Europe by rail. The signs for the trains to Pyoenyang are already on the platforms. In the moment there are only two trains connecting Dorasan Station with Seoul. A connection to the north will not be there soon...

    Unser letzter Stop in der DMZ war Dorasan Station. Es ist der letzte Bahnhof von Südkorea vor der Grenze. Allerdings ist das Schienennetz zwischen beiden Ländern verbunden, sodass nach einer Wiedervereinigung eine Bahnfahrt von Lissabon bis Seoul möglich wäre. Die Schilder für die Züge nach Pjöngjang hängen auch bereits am Bahnhof. Zurzeit fährt hier allerdings nur zweimal pro Tag der sogenannte DMZ Zug von Seoul. Eine Weiterfahrt in den Norden wird es wohl nicht so bald geben...    Lue lisää

    Frozen River in the DMZ

    DMZ - The 3rd Infiltration Tunnel

    After passing the the passport control at a military checkpoint we were allowed to enter the DMZ for 2.5 hours. The first stop of our tour was the third infiltration tunnel. It is one of four tunnels South Korea has found in the DMZ built by North Korea. In the tunnel we were not allowed to take any photos but it was a very deep and long tunnel. We could walk almost all the way to the border in this tunnel. About 170 meters before the border the tunnel was closed by the South Korean military. We learned that about 30,000 soldiers could pass this tunnel within one hour.

    Nachdem wir einen Militär Checkpoint inklusive Passkontrolle passiert haben waren wir dann in der DMZ. Unser erster Stop war der dritte Tunnel. Er ist einer von vier nordkoreanischen Tunneln die Südkorea entdeckt hat. Im Tunnel selber durften wir leider keine Fotos machen, aber es ist ein sehr tiefer und länger Tunnel. Ca. 170 Meter vor der Grenze zu Nordkorea würde der Tunnel allerdings von den Sudkoreanern durch drei Betonwände verschlossen. Durch ein kleines Fenster kann man allerdings weiter in den Tunnel sehen. Laut Aussagen Sudkoreas konnten bis zu 30.000 Soldaten pro Stunde von Nordkorea durch den Tunnel bis nach Südkorea gelangen.    Lue lisää

    DMZ - Imjingak

    Today we have done a trip to the DMZ (Demilitarized Zone) at the border between South and North Korea. The name of this zone is very strange because there are more than 1.5 Million soldiers in this zone protecting the border.

    Our first stop was Imjingak. It is located directly before the DMZ. From this point all excursions to the border are starting.

    Heute haben wir einen Ausflug in die Demilitarisierte Zone an der Grenze zwischen Nord- und Südkorea gemacht. Der Name dieser Zone ist jedoch nicht wirklich richtig da hier zurzeit über 1,5 Millionen Soldaten stationiert sind.

    Unser erster Stop war Imjingak. Es ist der letzte Ort vor der DMZ von wo aus alle Touren in die DMZ starten.    Lue lisää

    Namsan Park & Seoul Tower

    The next hill of Seoul we have visited today. The Namsan Park is located in the middle of downtown Seoul and it is a nice hike up the hill. On top we had a great view of Seoul and the Han River. Below the Namsan Seoul Tower there is a small mall with a cool OLED Tunnel and a 3D area powered by LG.

    Heute haben wir den Namsan Park besichtigt. Es ist ein kleiner Berg mitten in Seoul auf dem auch der Fernsehturm steht. Auf dem Berg hat man einen netten Ausblick über Seoul. Im Erdgeschoss vom Fernsehturm ist eine kleine Mall mit einem OLED TV Tunnel und einem 3D Bereich. Es ist wirklich cool gemacht.    Lue lisää

    2002 World Cup Stadium & Museum Seoul

    A very cool visit at the 2002 World Cup Stadium in Seoul. In this stadium Germany beat South Korea in the semi-final of the world cup 1:0. Especially the museum was very funny including virtual reality experiences. New talents have been found today.

    Ein wirklich cooler Besuch vom WM Stadion in Seoul. Hier hat Deutschland Südkorea im Halbfinale der WM 2002 mit 1:0 besiegt. Aber vor allem das Museum war sehr lustig inklusive Virtual Reality Brillen. Hier wurden auch neue Talente entdeckt...

    Old City Wall Hike

    We hiked 3 hours along the old city wall of Seoul. The way was a military zone so we had to register with our passports before entering the trail.

    Heute sind wir drei Stunden entlang der alten Stadtmauer von Seoul gewandert. Der Weg führte durch militarisches Gebiet, weshalb wir uns am Anfang vom Wanderweg mit unseren Pässen registrieren mussten.Lue lisää

    Gyeongbokgung Palace

    The largest palace located in Seoul we have visited today. It is much bigger than the other palaces we have visited already but all in all it looked very similar.

    It was the first time we met other non-Asian tourists since we are in South Korea. The Olympics are coming!

    Den größten Palast von Seoul haben wir uns für heute aufgehoben. Der Palast ist deutlich größer ähnelt aber ansonsten sehr den anderen Palästen, welche wir bereits besucht haben.

    Es war auch das erste Mal seit wir in Südkorea sind, dass wir andere nicht asiatische Touristen getroffen haben. Olympia kommt immer näher :) Wir freuen uns auch schon!    Lue lisää

    Back in Seoul

    We are back in Seoul now. The weather at Jeju was really crazy today but finally we made it with about 5 hours delay. Almost all other flights have been cancelled so we were very lucky.

    Wir sind zurück in Seoul :) Das Wetter auf Jeju war heute wirklich verrückt, aber am Ende haben wir es mit 5 Stunden Verspätung bis nach Seoul geschafft. Wir hatten ziemliches Glück, da nahezu alle anderen Flüge komplett ausgefallen sind.Lue lisää

    Jusangjeollidae Cliff - Columnar Rocks

    On our trip today we visited the Columnar Rocks and some other places around.

    Funny story: We have been to chocolate land - a "chocolate museum". Now we know that Kinder Chocolate is coming from Asia and Leibniz is a company from Russia. All in all this was the worst museum we have ever seen.

    Tonight we will celebrate our Travelläum with a Korean BBQ and after that we will visit a Spa with hot pools :) Tomorrow we will fly back to Seoul.

    Heute haben wir einen Ausflug zu den sogenannten Columnar Rocks gemacht.

    Danach waren wir noch im Chocolate Land. Es sollte ein Schokoladen Museum sein und wir haben auch viel gelernt. Zum Beispiel dass Kinder Schokolade aus Asien oder Leibniz Kekse aus Russland kommen. Es war wirklich das schlechteste Museum was wir jemals gesehen haben :D

    Heute Abend feiern wir unser Travelläum mit einem koreanischem BBQ und einem Spa mit heißen Pools. Morgen geht es dann per Flugzeug zurück nach Seoul.    Lue lisää
