    August 15, 2023 in Vietnam ⋅ ⛅ 36 °C

After Hien Luong Bridge, at 12:00 noon, the heat killed us when we came to Quang Tri Citadel.

According to documents, at the beginning of emperor Gia Long's reign, Quang Tri citadel was constructed in the Tiền Kiên ward. In 1809, wanting to secure the North of the then capital Phú Xuân, the emperor ordered to move the citadel to Thạch Hãn commune (the present location), which he deemed a position with strategic advantages in terms of politics, economy, and military.

The citadel is mostly remembered as the site of the Second Battle of Quang Tri in the country's resistance against the United States during the Vietnam War.

You can refer further information on Quang Tri Citadel thru this site https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Quảng_Trị_Citadel.

We also remember the lunch at a small street restaurant right outside the gate of ancient citadel, where Noah decide Banh nam & Bun thit nuong dishes are the best food Noah has ever taken in Vietnam.
