    Boat trip around Skiathos Island

    July 19, 2016 in Greece ⋅ ⛅ 24 °C

There are several boats that provide boat trips around Skiathos. This us probably the best way to see the island's lush beauty. Many of the places you see are not accessible by any other means.

    Lalaria Beach

    July 19, 2016 in Greece ⋅ ⛅ 24 °C

Weather permitting, you can rent a boat to visit the isolated Lalaria Beach on the northern coast of Skiathos. There is no road there, and it is in an unprotected area of the island, so even a little windy makes it impossible for boats to drop passengers onto the beach. There are no umbrellas or snack bars, so travellers must bring there own supplies. The beach is made of tiny smooth pieces of marble pebbles and visitors are restricted from taking any as a souvenir. Legend had it that if you swim around the arch three times you will live forever.Read more

    July 19, 2016 in Greece ⋅ ⛅ 24 °C

Skiathos had been inhabited since at least 700 BC and has changed hands several times. The ancient Greek inhabitants worshipped Dionysos on the island. Skiathos Town

    July 15, 2016 in Greece ⋅ 🌙 28 °C

Skiathos has one major port town, also called Skiathos. All ferries arrive and depart from there. The airport is also very nearb; you could walk there if you had to. The town is a typical island town with crowded buildings in a labyrinthine configuration. On many side roads cars are not able to cross and they become de facto pedestrian walkways.Read more

    Tsougria Island

    July 15, 2016 in Greece ⋅ ☀️ 31 °C

Tsougria is an uninhabited nature preserve that is short distance by boat from skiathos town. The converted fishing boats will drop you off and you can take any boat back to town for 10 euros. It has an incredible pine tree forest that reaches the water in some spots. The sand is excellent and the water is just about the clearest I've ever seen.Read more

    Megali Ammos beach

    July 14, 2016 in Greece ⋅ ☀️ 29 °C

From Athens airport it took 40 minutes to land into the island of Skiathos. From Athens, one could also opt to take a bus to the port town of aghios Konstandinos and then hop on a boat to get to Skiathos, but you would lose half a day traveling. I'm staying at Angeliki Beach Hotel, walking distance to the main port town.Read more
