We've found a patch of desert that will call home tonight. It was dark when we arrived, so we're not exactly sure where we are. At least a couple of miles from other humans which is the main thing.

James got an error code on his 'new' car, so we decided to be better safe than sorry and brought it in to to get checked. We're going to spend an extra day in Arizona, around Flagstaff, maybe head down to Sedona.En savoir plus

What is now Sliding Rock State Park, was once an apple farm owned by the Pendley family. Crazy to see the green of apple trees against the barren red rock of the escarpmemts all around. A beautiful spot.En savoir plus

Bad news

Car needs a new pump which they won't get until Tuesday. James starts in Lubbock Texas on Wednesday (10 hours away).

The new plan is to leave his car here and then I'll bring him back here next Friday after work. We're moving stuff between our cars accordingly.

It ended up being a good thing that I was here too. If he was on his own, he'd be stranded.En savoir plus

A ghost town build on an area of Indian history, then a trading post, ultimately a town with a post office. It even has a zoo at one point.

VoyageurSo not crazy old. The owner of the zoo was crazy it seems. He shot an unarmed neighbor dead, but somehow was acquitted. He was savagely mauled by one of his mountain lions, and bitten by several of his snakes

Visiting the Petrified Forest NP

The main attraction of the park are the petrified remains of trees that were growing back 225 million years ago in the Triassic when Arizona, North America and pretty much everywhere was still part of the Pangea supercontinent. They'd already petrified before the T Rex was around. Quite amazing to behold. The outside still looks like bark and the trunk of a tree, but the inside have turned completely to stone.En savoir plus
