    June 11, 2012 in Germany ⋅ ☀️ 18 °C

In the evening we visited the famous Brandenburg Gate, one of Germany’s most iconic landmarks. Even from a distance the historic monument impressed us with its beautiful architecture. The gate was built in the 18th century and today stands as a symbol of freedom and unity. It was especially fascinating to stand at a place that was once directly next to the Berlin Wall. Many tourists were taking pictures and enjoying the special atmosphere around Pariser Platz. The Quadriga on top of the gate looked particularly impressive in the evening light. Around the Brandenburg Gate there was a lively atmosphere with street musicians and many visitors. It was fascinating to experience Berlin’s history so closely at this place. The illuminated buildings around the square created a wonderful evening atmosphere. Visiting the Brandenburg Gate was the perfect start to our Berlin trip.
