    August 27, 2018 in Turkey ⋅ ☀️ 23 °C

In the evening, we arrived at the legendary Mount Nemrut, one of Turkey's most impressive UNESCO World Heritage Sites. The mountain is famous for its monumental stone heads and royal tomb complex from the Kingdom of Commagene. After the climb, we were rewarded with spectacular views of the surrounding mountains. The giant statues of gods and kings looked especially impressive in the evening light. King Antiochus I ordered the construction of this remarkable sanctuary in the 1st century BC. The atmosphere on the summit felt unique and almost mystical. Many visitors gathered to witness the famous sunset. The combination of history, archaeology, and nature made the site unforgettable. Mount Nemrut is one of Turkey's most fascinating landmarks. Visiting it was undoubtedly one of the highlights of our entire trip.
