Original and restored Shimla

Shimla turned out to be a real mish-mash of Anglo-Indian influence. There are international businesses such as McDonald's, KFC, et al occupying old colonial buildings. People in traditional dress hailing from Himalayan villages rub shoulders with well-healed tourists from all over the world. There is a general air of decay, but in the main square, the recently-restored Christ Church, built by the British in the 1840s, stands out like a beacon. I was fascinated by the contrasts.
