  • Killing fields

    July 13, 2009 in Cambodia ⋅ ⛅ 29 °C

The S21 camp was my favourite part of the trip - it was by far the most confronting. I hope to go back as an adult to properly learn and comprehend.
They left the blood on the floor from the victims. They had photo mugshots of victims on display - the fear in their eyes was gut wrenching. Some photos affected me more than others but all were soul crunching.
They had displays of some of the torture techniques and the rules that had to be followed.
A lot of people in Cambodia are missing limbs because of landmines. i will never forget a man we encountered outside S21. It looked like he had been boiled alive, Including his eyeballs. I was frightened and ran away; an action i regret. But seriously, his eyes looked like literally hard boiled eggs, can describe it.
we also went to the killing fields which had a building with thousands of skulls in it and mass graves describing what was in each. So many people are buried there you are walking on top of bones.
The photo below is of the designated WALKWAY.
    they are bones.
