Uruguay H3 #312

Up at the crack of dawn on Saturday morning, we made the 3 hour drive out to Rocha, then took a small two lane road to the north. Then that turned into a dirt road for the last 3-4 miles, until we arrived at Tierra Bilu, a fabulous Runners Camp for Ultra Marathoners. The managers were a lovely couple Allison & Maxi Lopez. Maxi is the top Ultra runner in Uruguay, so we knew we were going to get some seriously awesome trails . . . and we were not disappointed.

Once we had the entire pack of 23 assembled, we had a quick chalk talk, and then we were off. No pavement to be found, it was all dirt tracks, water crossings . . . and mud puddles, amazing shiggy for an amazing trail. Circle, dinner, and an all night dance party followed.

On Sunday, we circled up again for another trail, more like a group hike, but we had even better views and lots of laughs as we climbed to the top of the local mountain.
