Wow, how time flies. It has been 5 years since my last visit to this garden spot in the middle of the Pacific Ocean. I founded the Aloha H3 back in 1991, and next week we will be celebrating the 35th anniversary with a special shiggy trail and dinner. This week, they held their AGM to elect the new MisMan, and all went to plan.

The trail was on familiar territory (I have run nearly 1100 trails on this small island over the past 35 years (lived here about 13), so most of the island is familiar territory. The Aiea Loop is a most excellent shiggy trail area, with many options for twists and turns, but basically goes out along the crest parallel to the (get this) . . . the H3 Interstate (check out the name on the trail graphic). The H3 opened about 25 years ago to great fanfare, and the hash had the opportunity to run the length of it for a trail just before it opened.
It has been raining here a lot lately, and in fact, they have had a few major storms blow through recently as well. So there were a few trees down crossing trail, which added a little more spice to it. They had the usual Turkey & Eagle splits, with an added Super Eagle for Extra Credit . . . which I did, in spite of my current short comings. Meaning, due to some knee issues that had me walking for a couple weeks, then I took two weeks off while visiting family, it has actually been over a month since I last ran, and two weeks since I even walked a trail. So, needless to say, this trail wore me out. Got a few good pictures, and snagged a few more from others.

We have a whole week of events surrounding the 35th Anniversary, so the next week will be busy. I will also hare on Tuesday for the H5, then need to scout for next weekends main event. Good times, and so wonderful to be back in Hawaii.
