Nursing a slight hangover from NYE, so not to active today. Tomorrow though, starts a new Hash-o-rama. Now that the vaccine is being administered, hopefully we will soon start to see things opening up and travel become easier. But until then, I still have some plans brewing for hitting the Caribbean and South America. By summer, I'm looking at many events in Europe and Africa. Then by next fall, and into winter, back to Bangkok for more daily hashing. On On.Meer informatie

First trail of the year. It was the usual 2 hour drive up from Tampa, but finally worth the drive. Trail was more interesting, and the circle was fun. Good times. I got asked to hare next week, so will have to do some Google Maps scouting, and go up early next Saturday to tweak it out before hash time.Meer informatie

What a super shiggy trail with lots of cool cut throughs, holes in fences, and alleyways. Lots of slogging up and down stream beds also, at least 4 J-hooks, 2 beer stops, and a couple shot stops, and an endless supply of boob check and package checks . . . I ignore most of them, but I understand why most hashers walk these trails. There is a serious disincentive to actually running, as you have to stop every half mile.Meer informatie

It was a last minute hare, as the previously scheduled hare had to drop out only a couple days earlier. So, good thing I always have some ideas prepared for such occurrences. Scouting the day before, I managed to find plenty of shiggy for this night time spin around town. A marvelous pack of about 15 was on hand to enjoy some sweet trail. It was about 5 miles for the runners, and just over 3 for the walkers. A fun circle, and a good time was had by all.Meer informatie

First chance to hare for the O2H3, and my second hare for the week. I did not have time to scout, so set the eagle loop while scouting it. Then live hared the turkey trail, and had to make up the last mile as we did not get a good scouting for that part. It all worked out well. Excellent size pack, and Jack the Ripper and 4 Men Cumming turned up. A great day.Meer informatie

All the way back out to New Port Richey . . . Good fun on a nearly rained out trail . . . but some fancy footwork by the stand-in RA managed to turn off the rain just as we set off to follow trail. Some of the marks had faded, especially the chalk, but the pack worked together and managed to find our way to the glory hole . . . errr, I mean the finish. Well done to the hares during this tragic week of flour shortage. At least they still had Fruit Loops at the store. 🤣🤣🤣 On On until next week.Meer informatie

It was an excellent day for a hash (like there is a day that would not be) . . . and off we went. With all their best intentions, the hares gave us a lesson in science. Let's just call the yellow circle Entropy, the measure of a system’s thermal energy per unit temperature that is unavailable for doing useful work. Because work is obtained from ordered molecular motion, the amount of entropy is also a measure of the molecular disorder, or randomness, of a system. The concept of entropy provides deep insight into the direction of spontaneous change for many everyday phenomena.

I had a great time, it was a most excellent trail. Circle was a sight to behold, and lasted for hours. As you can imagine, fun, FUN I tell you, was had by all. 🙂Meer informatie

A no pavement hash out in the Rye Preserve. It was about 80% what I planned to do, but had to make several adjustments on the fly, which gets a bit nerve wracking, but also adds to the fun . . . especially when it all works out to make a better trail. Small pack of only 11, but it was on a day of the playoffs (KC best Cleveland, and Tampa Bay beat New Orleans). Great day with a fun bunch of hashers.Meer informatie

My second hare action of the week. It was another one of those evenings, where 15 hashers say they are coming, and only 7 show up. But it was a robust trail, and with the exception of Septic Yank taking a spill, everyone seemed to enjoy the trail. 5 miles for eagles, 4 miles for the walkers. Good times.Meer informatie

It was a great day for a hash . . . like there is really a bad day. 😂😂👣 We had a rousing pack of 9 in the end, when HPV showed up LATE. Trail (my third hare in a row) had the usual mixture of checks and shit, and we all managed to keep feet dry . . . except for the sweat dripping down your legs. The circle was short and fun, but Peterfile just wanted to keep on going with accusations. We shut him off. Life is good.Meer informatie

Well, this makes four trails hared in a week . . . for four different hash clubs. This one was pure wilderness, with no access other than by foot. I ended up going out there to scout 3 times, and enjoyed the many hours I spent wandering around on the horse trails. Had an excellent pack of about 30, from several different clubs around Tampa and Orlando. Eagle trail was about 6 .5 miles, and Turkey was about 4.7 miles. Had a great circle of songs, and the on after was at a local brewery. Great times.Meer informatie

Fun trail from Math Sucks and O-4. We managed to get about 200 meters down trail before the rain started, and it grew heavier and harder as we went along. Totally soaked by the time we rolled into the park, but the rain finally dissipated and we had a dry circle. Fun night with fun hashers. Note: this map is mostly the eagle trail, but I do admit I drifted a little bit over the last mile or so. 🙂Meer informatie

Excellent night time Full Moon trail this evening. I heard some cries of agony when we hit the swampy part, but it did not get above ankle deep. After hopping a few fence gates, we cut through a quaint little neighborhood before slipping into a little bar. Now on a cool winter evening, with wet feet, and feeling chilly, a stop in a bar can turn into a loooooong stay . . . and so it was. I skipped that part, but after waiting nearly 45 minutes at the parking lot, I figured the pack was nestled in at the bar for the duration. Good fun on trail, hope everyone made it back without to much water in their shoes. 🙂Meer informatie

It was another 100 mile drive just to hash (and 100 miles back), back up in Orlando. It was posted with low expectations, listing it as Shiggy 0.69 . . . and there was a lot of sidewalk and pavement, but it turned out to be a pretty good trail. Almost 30 hashers took to the streets, and there were some good grassy stretches taking advantage of powerlines and gaps between housing areas. Somehow the pack kept getting confused, and kicked out trail in the wrong direction . . . and I have to admit, even I went down a false that I thought was true but turned out otherwise. The finish of this A to B trail was on a small lake behind a Walmart, were Buttery Nipples were served up to the pack on this sunny warm day (that got rather chilly as the sun dipped in the sky . . . as the circle dragged on forever). The O2H3 normally has good long trails, but they also have good circles, until they turn into long circles . . . and I had to just walk away from this one. :)Meer informatie

Excellent trail from Bloody Sanchez and BOC. Plenty of shiggy, and numerous beer stops and shot stops that I got to skip past (I did run one J hook back though). Had one water crossing right near the start, that I took one step into the water and fell straight onto my back (at the end, we found out Bloody did the same exact thing). It was a bit chilly, but it was a decent night time trail over in St Pete. We had about a dozen hashers turn up, was a good time. I am still waiting to travel, but have been able to get a lot of hashing in here in Florida . . . 16 trails in December, 15 in January (54 total in the past 3 1/2 months). Still 3 more hashes coming up this week, and also the Super Bowl Hash on Sunday.Meer informatie

It was a Super Bowl Hash here in Tampa . . . As I had scouted and planned it, the trail was going to continue around the south end of stadium. Unfortunately, while driving past the stadium on the way to the start, I saw that the road I was going to use was closed to through traffic due to the Super Bowl festivities, so had to do a quick reroute on the fly. It all worked out in the end, but made the trail a little bit shorter. We still had 5 miles for the eagle trail, and 3 for the walkers. Good times, and was cool to watch the light show and hear the music coming out of the stadium.Meer informatie

Reiziger Bottom center is the stadium, and trail was going to go around to the south, but the road was closed. To go further south to go around it would have made trail over 6 miles, so made a quick decision to go back up to the north end. It all worked out.

It was the annual Red Dress Run for St Pete H3. I anticipated a slow moving multi-drink stop event . . . but we actually had a 3+ mile trail and got in a good run. The walkers however, took an extra 45 minutes to come in. On the bright side, that led to a short circle and then to the apres. A local pub stayed open late just for us, and over 35 hashers gathered for some good pub food and beers . . . and then, singing broke out. We had a good sing-a-long for about an hour. Super Bowl Sunday started off with a hash trail up in Land O-Lakes. Only 6 on hand, 2 were hares, 2 were visitors, for a 6 mile trail. After the thunder storm and heavy rains early in the morning, trail still turned out to be fairly dry. We did have to jump over a 6 foot fence, but it was a good trail and a good day.Meer informatie

Bonus day on Super Bowl Sunday . . . another hash trail. Wrapping up the morning, hash, it was only a 30 minute drive south to Brandon for a gathering of about 30 hashers for a 4 mile trail with a bit of shiggy, followed by a party. The Super Bowl was a huge victory for Tampa Bay. Traffic was pretty crazy getting home, but I managed to work some side streets to get home smoothly. Daytona 500 Weekend

I actually skipped a couple hash runs to join a bunch of hash friends over on the east coast for the Daytona 500. It was 3 days of eatin', drinkin', and racin'. We got rained on a bit, watched 4 races (Trucks, Arca, Xfinity, and the Big One). This was my first time to see it live. I used to be a big time NASCAR fan for over 25 years, starting in the mid 70s when Richard Petty was King, and this young upstart named Dale Earnhardt was just getting started. The day Dale died on the track (20 years ago right at the end of the Daytona 500) was when I stopped watching it. They put on a nice tribute to him on the 20 anniversary of his untimely passing. Great weekend with good friends.Meer informatie

Sheep it in the Family paid his dues on this interesting nighttime jaunt around Town & Country. After covering a couple miles through neighborhoods, trail made a right turn down a dead end road that I thought was going to be a check back, which was clearly mentioned at the start . . . but it turned out to be the beer check. In my own defense, I ran down the street another 100 feet and found trail, so seemed legit to me. There was a bit of confusion at about the 3 mile mark, where a couple hashers missed the right turn through a hole in the fence, and ended up making another lap around back towards the beer check. In short order, all 10 hashers found their way back to the parking lot, including our two visitors from West (By God) Virginia.Meer informatie

Oh, the weather outside was frightful,
And the pack was small but delightful,
They asked for 3 short miles,
And they finished with smiles, finished with smiles, finished with smiles.

Yea, it was a crappy evening, but we made the most of it. Our illustrious GM, Fields, dragged his COVID laden ass out to bring the beer (which we all opted to avoid 🙂 ), and one hare with 4 hounds took to the cold dark streets. I had a 5 miles eagle and 3 mile turkey trail planned, but given the option . . . the pack voted to just have one 3 mile-ish trail, so I just winged it. NN Mike ran halfway, and decided it was too long, so turned around and went back 😂😂 while the rest sprinted on into the dark. For the most part, it did not rain, but most everything was already rained on so wet and a bit slippery. The pack eventually reunited in the parking lot, and commenced the shortest circle on record . . . and then straight in for a cold beer in a warm pub. Well done to the pack for not getting lost on this shithouse trail. On On to Ecuador.Meer informatie
