    Cambodia Nash Hash – Hangover Run

    This weekend did not start out well. I turned up for rego and got my shirt, then decided not to run the Friday evening hash as I was not feeling well. Saturday rolls around, and I am down for the count. Spent the whole day laying in bed, unwell. So by the time Sunday (today) rolled around, I was pumped to just get out and run.

    Today’s hangover trail was a boat run out to the other side of the Mekong River. Nothing to fancy, just a nice hot 7+ km trail zigging and zagging through some muddy tracks and farmland, and a long swing back to the start point to meet the boat. I have done previous runs here where the dirt was so dry it was like powder . . . running on the moon . . . all the way to huge mud puddles that had the entire pack covered up to our knees. Today was somewhere in between. Just enough mud to keep us on our toes.

    Once we all returned to the boat, we headed up river for a bit, before turning back down stream and headed back to the port. We had a most excellent buffet on board, and enjoyed a quick circle of offences committed by the muddy pack. Now, all showered and feeling fresh, I think I may just find enough time to head over to the Villa Grange and drink a couple more beers with whoever turns up.

    Just relaxing in PP for the past couple days after Cambodia Nash hash, and was able to jump in on the Wednesday City hash. It was an excellent 7 km night time trail through the underbelly of the city. After being sick, and slowly recovering, it felt good to just get out and get another good sweat in. No need for circle, we just socialized and enjoyed each other’s company while we swilled a beer or three. Great times in Cambodia.Leer más

    BH3 Outstation - Vientiane Main Event

    It has been 18 years since I was last in Vientiane, was good to be back. After a group dinner on Friday night, some of the gang had a hard time finding their way to the bus on Saturday afternoon. Eventually we were all counted present, and off we went.

    Trail was good, but most of us got turned around and found our way to the trail, cutting off a couple Kms. Codpiece got us back on track, and most of us found the additional 2 kms we cut off.

    Dinner was excellent, out on the water. Ride back to town was singing all the way. Good fun.    Leer más

    It was the annual ex-GM run, the week after the AGM. Always Cums Last set an excellent 7 km trail through the Ratchathewi area. We had lots of visitors, at least 7 I believe, and the pack was about 25. Its getting dark early, but still plenty of street lights to stay on course. Well done to ACL for a great year of GMship, and a good trail tonight.Leer más

    It was just over 2 years ago I had the pleasure of a first running with the Aberdeen H3 for their AGM. How quickly two years goes by, I almost forgot how damn cold it gets in Scotland in November . . . guess I am not smart after all. But there I was, with the pack out at Kirkhill Forest, where the trails have been closed for a while due to past storms. It was an excellent run through the forest, with plenty of shiggy and other sights to see . . . so nice, I think I’ll come back for more.Leer más

    Last month I wrote about how the HHH had come full circle, with a Hash House Harriers club in school for youngsters. I was so intrigued, I came all the way to Scotland to check it out. Nestled in the town of Portlethen, between Aberdeen and Stonehaven, this club runs every Monday afternoon during school term. While I could not join in with the kids, I did have the distinct honor of being a co-hare to prelay this trail, with GM and founder, Fireflaps. I will write more on this in my upcoming book that will be published next year. What an honor indeed.Leer más

    It is nice to be back in the warm environs of Bangkok, but I did have a lovely time in Scotland last week. Arrived just in time to wander out for a hash with the Harriettes. Turd Burglar teamed up with Nibbles to set a fun 7 km trail around Chulalongkorn University.

    We had about a dozen hashers on hand, and a visiting ‘Loan Moaner’ from Stuttgart. Loan Moaner was well on his way to don the “T*ts of the Week” attire, until Turd Burglar decided to accuse the acting GM of some minor transgression . . . and was immediately awarded said prize. After circle, most of the pack ventured on to the restaurant for dinner, and fun, FUN I TELL YOU, was had by all.    Leer más

    It was a rather balmy evening, quite nice for a night hash. We had a solid pack of about 20 turn up, and the trail was well marked skidding in and out of khlong paths, side streets, and alleyways. Dashing and darting about, the pack hung together for most of the way, but we seemed to get a bit separated towards the end. Overall, an excellent evening on the hash.

    Circle was short and to the point, as the local security guard came by three times to tell us to quiet down or move on. We finally did, and off for a nice dinner of local Thai cuisine. Another great hash in Bangkok. It will be an early morning tomorrow, as I am off to Manila for the SHOT weekend.    Leer más

    The weekend events got off to a great start. After we all managed to arrive, get checked in, and have lunch . . . we headed over to the Handle Bar for registration. Somewhere in all this commotion, Opera managed to recruit me as a co-hare, and off we go to set trail. At 1700, the call was made to circle up for chalk talk, followed by ON OUT. Three beer stops and 5 kms later, we completed a lap of down town Manila, and more beers followed.Leer más

    Solstice Hash On Tour #35 – Main Event

    After a 3 hour drive down from Manila, we arrived in Batangas, and got ourselves sorted at the hotel. We reemerged at 3 pm for chalk talk and on out. Trail was simply described as “Uplifting.” 😊

    After nearly 2 hours, and over 500 meters in ascent, the pack found solace in the view, and drowned their sorrows in beer. Some of us (me) found our own (extra kms of) trail to enjoy, and ran back to the hotel. The rest found the vans ready to bring them back down the mountain where more beer awaited. After showers, it was dinner time, then circle (which may have gone on too long, as the live band was ready to play, and prodded us to get on with it already). Then the music and dancing took over . . . and the party really took off. Great times in the Philippines.    Leer más

    We started with a 45 min boat ride over to Marikaban Island for the day's adventure. Not so much a hash, but rather a follow the leader hike around the island. Some good fun wading along the coast line and climbing on the volcanic rock. Finished with a splash (in the ocean) and a dash back to the boat landing on the other side of the island . . . where we feasted on some local delicacies as you can see in the pictures.

    It was a good sized pack of about 25 for this inner city romp. Meeting in downtown Makati, trail colored within the lines so to speak, meaning we stayed within a housing compound for a somewhat short run, but felt good to stretch our legs and get a bit of sweat on.

    At one point, trail meant to take a turn, but the hare placed an arrow going straight into a gate and into a house. We cautiously entered the front yard, and someone eventually said ring the bell and see if this is some sort of beer stop . . . NOPE! So onward we went around the corner, and trundled on into the finish, where copious bottles of golden nectar sat cooling in the ice. Given the time to chat with some of the local hashers, I met several friends of friends and had much to talk about.

    After being afforded the opportunity to empty a number of said bottles, we then heard the call to gather round. The circle was quite entertaining, with plenty of good jokes and accompanying songs. Since it was the hares birthday, he graciously invited us all up to his balcony to enjoy a fine turkey and stuffing dinner, along with mac & cheese and various other tasty treats. To top it off, a large chocolate cake was rolled in, with candle to blow out. I am not a huge chocolate fan, but this cake was good. It was a splendid evening . . . but time for rest, as it is back to the airport tomorrow. Still three more hash trails to run this week in yet another country.    Leer más

    One of the best things about the hash, is that if you are having a bad day . . . you can always count on a sweaty trail to help forget about things for a while. Today’s trail was a B to A excursion in the Bang Sue area. We left the start and walked over to the newly opened Bang Sue Grand Station, and boarded a brand new train for one stop up the line. Our hares, Short Shorts and Tinker, then sent us off and running.

    It was a most excellent maze of ally ways, khlong paths, and side streets for the return trip to the start point. The harriettes are really outdoing themselves lately with the smorgasbord of snacks served at the end of the trail. So many chips, dips, wraps, sauces, and nibblies it could have nearly been a meal. It was a good ending that I needed today.    Leer más

    What an excellent trail in the dark. It was another B to A, get on the train at the start affair. A bit longer than the Harriettes trail last night, but just as interesting. True trail was about 6.8 Kms, according to the hare, and 8 Kms with all the false trail action. But there were a few issues, and some of the checks where extra hard, so I ended up with 10.5 Kms of fun. Still came in at the front, so all good.

    I think we had over 15 hashers on trail, which included a couple visitors. While the hares got their share of down downs, the pack also managed to hoist of few for various atrocities on trail. A great trail, followed by a great dinner. Fun Fun Fun, till the GM takes the beer awayyyyyyyyyy.    Leer más

    It has been a little cooler here in Bangkok the past week since I returned, but turned up at the start of trail and the sun was just blazing. We had nearly 20 turn up for this 10 km shiggy trail out in the countryside (Tumbling Bill would have been proud). Just my opinion, but SE Asia has the best trails (although I do enjoy the German countryside, as well as Japan and Korea [that's NE Asia for those about to comment] 😊 ).

    We had plenty of shiggy, scrambling along rice paddies, cattle pastures and farmer’s fields, and many a khlong path linking them altogether. A most excellent day on the hash. Circle was fun, followed by a fine sampling of local cuisine. All well and good, but Sunday is another day . . . and another hash. Let’s git’er done.    Leer más

    It was the AGM . . . or more commonly referred to as the Annual General Piss Up. Recently dethroned GM Codpiece was our hare, and set a mostly khlong path trail, but also had some dirt tracks as best he could find. It was a fun filled 8 km trail under the afternoon sun, where most all the pack finished before dark.

    Circle started out as a farewell to the old mismanagement, complete with gift commemorative t-Shirts for all. After giving them a bit of abuse, it was welcome to the new MM . . . and abuse for everyone handed out by "Always Comes Last" and accompanied by a down down. Once all had been properly recognized (or punished), it was on on on to dinner and more merriment. Well done to the old MM, and good tidings to the new for a great year ahead.    Leer más

    Well, what can I say . . . it was my birthday, the big SIX OOOOOOOOH. Every decade has gotten better for me, so very much looking forward to my 60s. We had about 25 hashers turn up for the festivities, and ACL helped me hare this 7.5 km trail from Wutthakat. When I hare, I like to change directions as often as possible, and this trail had plenty of that. Also several bridges and khlong paths were used to keep the pack off the streets. I had fun, and I hope the pack did as well. On On.Leer más

    Last trail in Thailand for a while. Christmas Day! I was co-hare for Virginia Slim on his Christmas Day celebration. It was a fairly short 6.8 Kms, but took in some interesting alleyways and railroad tracks.

    Another splendid shiggy trail in Scotland. I tried my best to keep my feet dry for as long as I could, but eventually you just have to say . . . What the F*ck! . . . Wet feet it is. After we ran around the golf course, the pack regrouped at the beer stop, and from there it was a short hop skip and a jump to the on home. Circle was filled with New Year's type revelry, and then we were served up to a hearty selection of warm soups. Most excellent day on the hash.

    AND . . . that is all for 2023. 154 hash trails (32 trails hared), hashing in 26 different countries. Nuff said.    Leer más
