    A Day in Fes

    Another relaxing day wandering the streets of Morocco on a cool and haze grey day, this time in Fes. This city is different than what we have seen in the other cities here. The streets and sidewalks are wide, lined with trees, and much quieter. There were very few cars beeping their horns, people speak in lower tones, and it all just seems so much more peaceful here. After nearly 10 kms, we ended the hike at the famous Chouara Tannery.Leggi altro

    What a glorious day for a hash, and where better than in my favorite hash forest in Germany.

    This celebration was delayed a few weeks (we'll run trail 815 on Tuesday), to ensure some warmer weather. Current GM, Bad Sex, was the hare, and he set an amazing 15 Km trail through the best forest around. We had about 20 hashers on hand for the celebration, with the majority runners, so most excellent.

    Frankfurt H3 #2067

    Spring in Germany, such an awesome time of year. Perfect time for hashing, and so a quick drive north to join the Frankfurt Hash once again was in order. Coincidently, the Frankfurt H3 was the third club (1997) I ever ran with in Europe (first two were with the Rota H3 in Spain, and the Naples NATO H3 in Italy in 1995). I eventually would go on to live in Stuttgart for 4 years, so have enjoyed hundreds of great hash trails here.

    We met at the train station in Lorsbach, a short drive to the northwest of Frankfurt. Trail today was excellent, with an anticipated climb up a local mountain, and zigging and zagging along several tracks. A great day with many great friends here in Frankfurt.    Leggi altro

    What a lovely afternoon for a hash trail. We had about 25 hashers on trail for this 15-20 km trail (depending on how much you endeavored to enjoy every part of trail). At one point before the beer check, the pack engaged in a mutiny and just headed back to the general area of the start. Once we reengaged with the trail, beers were enjoyed at the beer stop. Then, another wild ride endured for the final on in.
    In the circle, the hares were totally abused with many down downs. What an awesome day on the hash. 😝😆😝    Leggi altro

    Another great day on the hash here in Stuttgart. Trail was awesome, right up until that hidden left turn up the staircase, that we never found even after 15 minutes of searching. The hare sent a clue to the group chat, and then the pack was back on . . . but I was out checking another route, and ended up zening my way back on to trail, then again to the finish. But it was a lovely day in the forest, and otherwise the trail was marked very well.Leggi altro

    Frankfurt H3 #2068

    It was the regularly scheduled run for the Frankfurt H3, but also billed as a prelube for the weekend of events for the Saturday Hash In The Summer (SHITS) H3 as they celebrate their 21st Anniversary.

    Trail was an interesting 10 km city run through the heart of Frankfurt, and past many of the nude statues that adorn the streets and parks. Circle was a raucous affair with plenty of down downs for our pack of about 15. Three more days of hashing coming up over the next three days. On On.    Leggi altro

    Saturday Hash in the Summer (SHITS) H3

    We are here to celebrate the 21st Anniversary of the SHITS H3, with a 3 day, three hash weekend. Tonight was the short intro trail with a dinner party after. A calm nearly 5 kms, but a good trail set by Swans. After a nice German feast, it was about a mile walk back to the cars on a crisp evening of fresh air. Now for some sleep and an early rise for the main event tomorrow.Leggi altro

    Saturday Hash in the Summer (SHITS) H3 - Main Event

    Hare away to 11 am, so an early morning for a hermit like me. Today we had a lovely 8-9 kms of shiggy trails in the forest south of Frankfurt. Over 50 hashers on hand to celebrate the 21st anniversary of the SHITS H3.
    Circle was long and enthusiastic, but that same enthusiasm breeds a lot of private parties, so several pauses in the effort, to bring in the JABBER-wakies.

    In the end, another great day on the hash. Now time to clean up, and move on over to the dinner and party for the evening. On On.    Leggi altro

    One last gathering in the 21st Anniversary celebration. It was an overcast hazy rainy morning, at a brisk 11C when we gathered at the start, so had to wear my coat on trail. We still had a pretty good sized pack. Now that we have all made our way on into the afternoon, the sky is blue and sunny and the temps are rising.

    It was my turn to hare, and was a live hare, so only pictures of the finish as the pack arrived. Trail had a little bit of everything. Shiggy, pavement, parking lots, hills, forest, and even a water crossing. Excellent pack of about 18-20 turned up on a pleasant spring evening here in Stuttgart.

    This trail was a quick prelube for German Nash Hash down in Bad Tolz this weekend. It was a fun city run, and a good opportunity to meet up with a few hashers I have not seen in some time. We had over 40 hashers when all was said and done (several were late, even walking up as we were wrapping up circle). Tomorrow we make the one hour drive down to Bad Tolz for the big weekend event.Leggi altro

    German Nash Hash - Main Event

    After partying late on Friday night, it was rise and shine for trail. I have always done the BB trail, except for the last one I did back in 2023 when I opted for the long trail (which turned out to be nearly as long as the BB trail). This year, I really slacked off, and opted for the medium trail of 12 kms due to a knee that is not well.

    So off we go on trail, and the I always prefer to be positive, but the marking of this trail was atrocious. Normally you expect a good 100 meters for the first mark off the check, but this trail had numerous marks as much as 250-300 meters between marks. Fortunately we had a large pack, and we spread out all over the countryside. In the end, we all finished, so there's that.

    Circle was fun, full of the usual down downs, with the hares taking the brunt of it. Then dinner and on into the night of partying and dancing. Overall, the event was very well organized and efficient.    Leggi altro

    German Nash Hash - Hangover Trail

    It was a late night on the dance floor, but we were back at it this morning. We were all on the same trail, but there was a walker / runner split. Trail went through down town Bad Tolz, and then up to the top of the hill for a great view of the valley.

    My last hash in Germany for the next couple months, it's off to Asia for a few stops at some hash events, and one more bucket list item to cross off.

    Trail today was an excellent city run around Boblingen, where I worked for 4 years when I lived in Germany. Mostly pavement, but the sneaky hare managed to take us on 50 meters of shiggy . . . well done! There is no doubt I love it here in Central Europe.

    My first visit to the Delhi NCR here in India, and was lucky enough to catch up with the local hash. Several of the hashers mentioned it was in an area of the city that they do not often get to, so what a treat. Trail was all alleyways, side-streets, and parks, with plenty of twists and turns. Was nice to be back in the heat, a 38 C, after cooling my heels in Germany for the past month.

    Circle was on a roof top, with about 17 hashers and a block of ice. Good times in India, with a very fun and welcoming pack of hashers. After all that, one of the hashers offered to give me a ride back to my hotel, so awesome, and on the way he drove by a couple landmarks so I could get a look (and a couple photos).    Leggi altro

    SHOT #38 (20th Anniversary)

    Enjoying a long weekend here in Bali with the Solstice Hash On Tour (SHOT) on their Biannual excursion, this one being the Summer Solstice. Over 200 hashers have come in from mostly Malaysia, but a few other locations as well.

    Today we had the opening with goodie bag pick up, and a red shirt run around the Sanur neighborhood. A fun 10 Km trail touring the back streets of the area. Dinner and drinks were available at the finish, as we watched darkness settle in over the ocean.    Leggi altro

    SHOT #38 - Main Event

    After the activities held down in Sanur last night, we migrated up to Ubud this morning for the main event. Traffic has become totally bumper to bumper now, and it took almost 2 hours to make the 25 km trip. Once we were all checked into our hotels, we gathered up and boarded the busses to the run site.

    Again, it was tough traffic to the start, but worth it. Ubud is probably my favorite place on earth to hash. But the weather did not cooperate today, as 30 min before go time, it started to pour, and not only did everything get slippery, it also washed away a few of the marks.

    But that is hashing, take the good with the bad. Far to many times I have gone out for an 8 km trail, and come back after 20 kms. Today was not quite that much, but there were some challenges.    Leggi altro
