Hallstatt, Austria

Hallststatt is a beautiful village that looks like a picture postcard. It's a UNESCO World Heritage Site of 16th C alpine houses and alleyways. Salt mines brought wealth to the area, and the mines date back to prehistoric times. Apparently the town suffers from masses of tourists, and we saw a lot of signs asking tourists to please not shout and generally not to be too obtrusive or obnoxious.
