Venzone, Province of Udine, Italy

14th Century walled village, declared a National Monument and surrounding gorgeous mountains. In 1976 there were several earthquakes that severely damaged the town. But the town was rebuilt and restored in a relatively short period. The photos from before and after are remarkable! There were no tourists here other than a few cyclists.

We just stopped here for an hour or so. Would have loved to stay longer. Emmett and I each had a cappuccino and a pastry out on the square...$5 total.Read more
