Another great green, no rain day!! Tammy was on fire today and I, due to trying some of the bread ( thinking it was low gluten a few days ago) was a bit achy and feeling slow. Combine that with the first rest stop being after a good ‘walk up’ ( we did the equivalent of 64 flights of stairs) at 11 km in,
I was admiring the grand farm and house I was passing by, I totally missed the turn off. I walked about 3 blocks down a very steep road, all the while thinking,’. Ah, Yes, on to this first rest!!’ I then noticed the other pilgrims just a bit ahead weren’t visible.
I heard a whistle for a dog. Once. Twice. ( there is no farm dog in this area of sheep and cattle country that needs more then one whistle!)
Three times, the whistle!!
OH, oh…that is another pigeon racing out!! …., let me check my App. Sure enough I took a left instead of a right at the nice farm house.
After a ‘’lovely’ hike back up a steep road’., Yes, I bring facetious.
I am turned around and was right as rain. But no Tammy in sight. No problem. I am a bit slower today. We know on the days this can happen we will meet at the first town
We are 11km in. I will be SO happy for a break and a bathroom. ( With so many pilgrims , it’s a bit difficult this week to ‘slip off the path’, so to speak.)
I know I have run late with my ‘side trip’,. I am focused and moving. I stop at a lovely, fairly new ‘Bar’ and everyone is there!! The Aussie couple, Brad and Suzy, the Aussie wife Silvia and her husband’s buddy, Bryan ( Ian will get to resume walking tomorrow after healing up a bit), Red Lipstick is there, the gal we have run into many tubes and finally got her name , Bianca!! (Also, Aussie) and, ‘Bavarian guy’..
I asked if they had seen her? I explained to each group, that she was way ahead of me and surely she had passed by? None of them had seen her.
Finally, Whistle Guy (the guy who we had crossed paths with several times this meeting and other days AND who had whistled at me to get me back on the Camino a half hour before). Says, the blue shirt gal!? ( They have ‘names for us also.😂). She stopped at the first tiny stop back up the road. I had blown passed it, unnoticed 😉.
Tammy had pulled over, headed to the bathroom and, as she should, ordered a coffee and waited for me………. Never saw her. 😂
Where we were I couldn’t use a cell phone to call her. ( long story, WiFi, etc).
The husband from one Aussie couple volunteered to run out if he saw her ( so I could use the rest room). Thank you, Brad!
I order a tea, because yes, I am still in the milk alternative wasteland m so couldn’t have a hit chocolate ( haha). See photos of cows *
Tammy walks up just as I sit with my tea! Hurray!! But wait, she has had her break and I just sat down. Did I mention she was on fire today and I was slow!? 😃. Long story short, we all chatted a bit wine I had my tea and off we went.
Only another 4-5km , well 6-7kn and up 6 sets of stairs to to actually get to our Pension. .…And then, what luck, it was only 3 flights to get to our room. 😅😂.
We showered and headed to the Lavanadria. €4 Euros to wash (28 minutes). €2 to dry ( 18 minutes.
WE should have the spin cycle they have, clothing is amiss dry when it comes out of the wash!
A gal from California ( so many Americans 👍) offered to share her washer and dryer, and split the cost. SWEET!
We then walked 2 doors down, order a Vino tinto ( red wine) sat outside and waited for laundry.👍). You’ve got to love it!
Later we found an Italian restaurant/pizza place that had gluten free pasta!!! SCORE! And different from the Pilgrim menu we have had for 4 wks which has few changes. Great prices, but always the same choices. No complaints, but tonight was such a great change!!
An aside:
We have’ names ‘ for others pilgrims like Green pants, pink jacket, head phone guy, Spanish bikers, etc. only because we haven’t gotten their names. 😉) It happens to us also. ‘The American gals’, ‘the laundry people’ as we shared the washer /dryer and payment one day. The next when we ran into her we were ‘the laundry people’. We exchanged names on that one. 😉
Included is a map if all the Camino’s when they are in Gallacia. They all are longer then shown as they all start outside of this Provence.
And the marker as one enters Galacia, our last province.
Tomorrow, Portomarin!! 🤞🤞🤞
Good night all! Hugs!Leggi altro
