    Zurich

    July 2, 2013 in Switzerland ⋅ ⛅ 23 °C

Well, this is it. Our last trip while living in Germany. Driving in the center of Zurich was crazy. C.r.a.z.y. We walked around downtown a bit and took advantage of Sandemans Free Tours. Zurich itself is a big city, but the downtown area was very cute. With banks on every corner! And incredibly expensive as they say! We happened to be in town during Zurich's largest festival, Züri Fäscht that happens every 3 years. Oops. The number of people crowding the streets was unbelievable. I knew they expected close to 20,000 guests but with no organization, that made it a little tough. Even worse, the amount for 1 beer was close to 12CHF, about 15$ and a mixed drink was 15CHF, close to 18$. The time it took to get past people and get in line to get a drink, almost wasn't worth it. Around 2230, the fireworks began. This was the first time I had ever seen a fireworks symphony, and it was pretty impressive. It was nice to see Fireworks so close to the 4th of July.
    Hippie Tip:
Travel outside of Zurich to the smaller towns

Take me above the Clouds, Mt. Titlis

    July 3, 2013 in Switzerland ⋅ ⛅ 14 °C

We ventured south in Switzerland to Mt. Titlis in Engelberg. At 10,000 feet, there was plenty to do on top of this Mountain. We went inside a glacier, took the suspension bridge over the Alps below, went sledding down the Alps and took a ski lift over the glaciers. The cost to get up to the top of the mountain was nearly $100 per person. Ouch! As we were heading up on the first gondola, fog began to roll in a light drizzle. Eventually, the clouds broke, and there were all the mountain peaks. It was quite a site to see. Would I go to Mt. Titlis again, no. It was a site to see and you could definitely spend a day up there but I felt I was missing the culture down below.
Hippie Tips: Enjoy the river with a brew, I mean a view.

    Lucerne

    July 4, 2013 in Switzerland ⋅ ⛅ 18 °C

Our last day in Switzerland, we ventured south again to Lucerne. What a beautiful city. I wish we had spent more time here. All natural beauty. We walked around the town and eat Falafel by the water. I enjoyed every second in Lucerne. The cobblestone streets were littered with people, shops and food. I found the perfect Swatch Watch. She was great. We took the cable car up another mountain to ride the Rhodelbahn down the Alps and then we were off. This was originally what drew us to Lucerne. I wish we had spent our entire time here.

Taste the Cheese on the bridge
Give the person in front of you time on the Rhodelbahn so you can go faster.
