    14 Juli 2024, Italia ⋅ ☀️ 23 °C

It’s been a great few days in Paris. I think my body needs something other than a tasty baguette sandwich and croissant. Yes, it’s time to head to Italy. It wasn’t on my initial plan, but I see that it is something that is totally doable, and I am so stoked to photograph places that have always on my bucket list since I started my photography.

The journey involved a series of train rides. Direct trains are available but they are sold out fast and you have to book it months in advance according to my European friends. The first day I am already falling behind since I woke up a little too late and I missed my first train by minutes. I had to wait for a few more hours to get to next train and that only meant one thing. Coffee by the terrace game is on! I ended up having a call with my family while having coffee and grabbed a few croissant next to the coffee shop. And showed them the surroundings like I am doing a live report.

After making a connection in Switzerland twice from Paris, I finally started to see the Italian Architecture and also heard some Italian speaking Italian on the train. But the highlight on my ride this time was I witnessed an Italian boarding the train without a ticket and the Swiss officer handled it like a pro. I have never seen someone being so vicious but also very respectful at the same time. I really took that scene in an awe of how good the officer’s English was compared to the Italian guy. He managed to get the Italian pay for the penalty and I am about to find out of how messy European transport system compared to East and Southeast Asian.

I made use of my 1 hour connecting time in Milan to visit the city center which happens to be only 10 minutes of metro ride from the main train station. It got me stunned for a few seconds seeing how majestic the Duomo di Milano is standing at the edge of its courtyard surrounded by more Italian Gothic buildings.

I took the opportunity to grab a slice of Pizza from a pizza chain restaurant by the street and I was trying to test my Italian skills but i failed miserably and the lady just continued talking to me in English. And she asked me to take picture of her once she saw i am holding a camera. Such a sweet lady. I love Italy already at that point.
