Sacred Headwaters

Thanks to David MacKinnon, we were able to meet and benefit from the hospitality of Jim and Erma Bourquin in Iskut, stewards of the sacred headwaters of the Stikine, Nass and Skeena Rivers, who told us about the ongoing efforts their community has undertaken to preserve this sacred area for future generations. We were also thrilled to spend a rainy night in a comfy wall tent at their community camp and chat with passing friends about our travels through Stikine country (having also just paddled the lower Stikine with friends a few weeks earlier).Read more
