Istanbul to Stockholm

I’m raising the bar — extending my swim from Istanbul to Cadiz all the way to Stockholm, following the Atlantic coastline and later Danmark and sweden for around some extra 8000 kilometers. It's an 11 year project. Leer más

    Freezing lack of nutrition

    The last few nights I have been so cold in the sleeping bag, Which has never happened before, although it has been more than three degrees and now it is 11 and I can't keep warm.
    I had hoped that there were several restaurants along the beach that were open where I could eat really good food but it is not so.
    when I get to the next city, I'll fill up my bag with dried fruits and then get some c vitamins and some mixed vitamins. So it means that I have to freeze for two more nights    Leer más

    When I was about to go ashore, there were some fishermen who were launching their boat, so I took the opportunity to help because it always pays off. When they came back, I was invited to grilled fish and grilled lamb and coffee. I was offered accommodation but declined because now it was time to set up the tent, so tonight will be the first night.     Fishing cottage overnight stay

    The wind picked up and I made a good decision to abort my swim. When I came on shore there was a house, and as usual on the beach there were two guys. I asked them if I could sleep anywhere and they said of course you can sleep in or fisher house.
    When I had taken off my wetsuit and I came into the house they treated me with cheese and bread and tea of course. I bought a couple of extra bottles of gas now I use it to keep up the temperature close to my bed during the night. Soon to come warmer nights. You really have to like your own company to be able to do something like I'm doing right now, I spend so much time alone. Here in Turkey it gets dark really early in the evening and it is still dark until seven o'clock in the morning so it's many hours that you are alone in the tent or in a house.    Leer más

    Yes I found this spot because it looks secure if the heavy rain comes tomorrow. I have to stay all day I want to be protected and at the same time the flat stones on the surface will let the water pemetret right so it will not be water under my tent that's important because I have some small holes in the floor. I saw 2 swordfish swimming by.Leer más

    It started with a cold morning as usual so far, I haven't been sleeping really well because I've been cold. So I put on my wetsuit in the tent due to the strong wind. When I was swimming dark clouds approached and I was a friend for Lightning and Thunder so I vent of shore after 1300 meters. I made a big mistake this morning I first threw my small bag on the shore and when I went back to the water big waves came and it just turned around my big bag and the flag post broke. I learned a lesson always the big back on the shore first.
    When I was standing on the beach, a goat came running along the beach straight towards me, and I thought now it's best to protect what you have between your legs so I took the little Subtech bag as an airbag in case it would hit me. It was pouring rain and water was flowing down from the mountains right where I was going to set up the tent, So I followed the little river a bit up and saw that it branched off in another direction too so I built a dam for the one that flowed towards my campsite.
    It's slowly getting warmer but at night it's still cold, i have 6 layers on my clothes on my chest and 3 on my legs.
    I got company fischers laying nets, another reason to swim close the shore.    Leer más

    Today was like summer returned, the sun was shining, the water was calm, and the campsite is perfect. I have received help here, I will have dinner for the evening, and I have been given water by friendly Turks.
    Wow after eating noodles since Monday, I was invited to dinner today. I got to bring fish to the tent and fry it. Thanks Oğuz Çetin! And say thanks to your pales. None of that would be possible without my Ayhan Kutlu. Thanks bro.
    I didn't understand why I sowed seeds at night in October when it was still quite warm when I was going to sleep. Now I know why. I washed my sleeping bag at home in Sweden and I put it in the dryer on high temperature, which melts the synthetic material that is supposed to insulate.

    Tonight I had a bad sleep again because it was so f****** cold. I know what the problem is. I washed my sleeping bag in the summer when I was in Sweden, and I put it in the dryer it's too high temperature so the synthetic textile melted. So during the morning and day I have been ripping it apart with my hands from bothside of the sleeping bag. Let's see if it gets more fluffy and keeps me warm better.
    Today I reinforced the tent poles and sewed my logo onto my hat.
    Later Erdem came walking on the beach with a friend and he asked me if I was missing something and, I said as it was I would love to have some more water. He went a way and came back with water and some biscuits. Better days soon and I get some sleep as it is right now hard to swim longer distances due low water temperature 🌡️    Leer más

    Last night was pretty good not so cold after I worked with my sleeping bags for hours to make it fluffy again.
    The swimming this morning was pretty rough because the current was 0.5 notes and the headwind I don't know how much it was but still it has to make a lot of effort to make my 3,400 m with a medium of 2 minutes 10 seconds per 100 m.
    I have become really fast to set my Camp, so now I've been enjoying lunch and coffee afterwards and making some updates with Facebook and you know all the stuff around you.
    Uhhhff all the clothes I've worn on my upper body over the past week have made my shoulders stiffen at night.
    Wow the cheaps came walking, I am lucky they went away. I thought they will stay all day eating flowers.
    I had so little light on this morning when I was going to pour cinnamon on the porridge and opened the big hole so there was more cinnamon than porridge.    Leer más

    The night was pretty okay I slept from 8:00 until 1:00 in the morning and then I went out for a pee and went back to the bed and slept to quarter to 5:00. My swim was at 2900 M and it was a headwind and it was against the current but the water was crystal clear it was a real joy to swim anyway.
    First day in shorts sitting in the shelter lovely
    I was on lack of water so i took a walk and met a lovely old lady, she filed my bottle and made my day.
    I went to bed at eight, but at 9:30 p.m. the prayer call started screaming so I woke up for half an hour. But then I slept wonderfully and the first night without freezing I woke up at 6:30.    Leer más

    I was a lack of water and I was worried because the camping was closed when I reached here. So I started to set up my camp and an old man came walking down to the pier here. I showed him my video of what I'm doing and he actually spoke English. So I asked if hi could help me with water because I'm lacking,and he went away and came back with 5 L of water oh my God, he made my day.
    Last night was pretty cold so I went up at 05:15
    It's hard to fit into the sleeping bag with 6 layers of clothing on my upper body. Limited mobility has caused problems with the joints in my arms.    Leer más

    Hello guys when I came on shore Ahmed was waiting there and he offered me coffee and pastries. And later in the evening I'm invited to his house to have some raki alcohol. And after a while my friend Pizza Napoli came from Gilliboulli with pizza for lunch. He had found one bottle of gas it's difficult to find these gas bottles that are necessary for me to cook and keep warm in the tent. I now have four bottles of gas and it would last for like 30 days if I'm really mean with the gas.
    I have to my surprise One restaurant opened today so I went there and had the hamburger and not sure if it was from the fall, I don't know let's see how my stomach copes tonight.
    And in the end I had five beers today so I felt good.
    The water was pretty warm today I think it's closer to 13 than 12°.
    The night was warm just pity they had a grill party on the beach until 03.40    Leer más
